4x4s - Toyota, Nissan or Mitsubishi?

i agree with others - forget the x-trail. I've driven an auto diesel and it's not even good on the highway, poor acceleration

rodeo - forget it, gutless fuel guzzler. At least it was a few years back
prado - you're paying for the luxury
pajero - don't know

In saying all that though, I've driven an automatic petrol pathfinder through 3 foot of water and survived. However, I also know of a place that NOTHING will get out of once it's bogged down.

All in all, i'd have to agree with what nun said back in post #3

trying to get my head around and work out wether worth the diesel or petrol cost / trade off. Like the Pajeros n prados but some off them for low years have huge mileage, ie 2004 prado 150 - 200k lometers $ $30,000- $35000?
thrashbox?

price sounds too high to me

most DOHC engines have rubber timing belts, rather than chains, that need a major change around 150-200k.

Strangely a lot of people seem to offload them rather than do this job, as it can run up to $2k. Check if this has been done!

Many high km Toyotas are ex-fleet, which can be good or bad, depends where from

100 series GXL V8 Petrol Automatic Landcruiser with airbag suspension for mine. Sure it sucks the juice. So what. If you can afford to buy one you don't give a toss about the fuel consumption. Unbelievable towing capacity and 4WD capability supreme plus a bit of comfort. ;)
