What are some movies for the jobless?

Idiot Box - An Australian movie from 1997. I thought it was funny. Great music. Especially that cover song from "Mark Of Cain".

I wasn't unemployed back then but I am sure that I suffered depression from my job and the lonely life I had. Got retrenched a year later and I was happy again. Looking back now, I definitely experienced depression but I didn't know at that time.

Wayne's World - 1992 I love the drum solo. I loved it.

American Splendor - 2003.

A simple movie but I loved it.

I stopped watching movies years ago. (Excluding Star Wars 7). I haven't been into movie theatre for nearly six years. Most movies are crap in my eyes and I can't afford to waste money on it.

Also I rarely have time to sit still to watch a movie now. If I had time or if I was not running my little business, I would watch documentaries first.

To feel good about myself: do some exercise first.

Hey Faramir, I hadn't been to the movies in about 10 years until Star Wars 7 a few weeks ago!:xyxthumbs

I agree that movies these days just ain't what they used to be. They just don't seem to be story driven anymore. I personally blame the demise of the independent film production companies. Easier to make Spiderman 15 than take a chance on script that isn't out of a cookie cutter.

A job that is worthwhile and pays justly is the best cure for the jobless. Our politicians are the worst I've seen since the Whitlam years at stimulating the economy.

The Full Monty explores unemployment better than most movies.

Movies won't do much other than give you a small blip of hope. Limitless is a good movie.

Know yourself and see below.

Exactly. Joblessness is not just lack of money. It is the shame and lack of dignity that kills slowly. In between looking for a good job, some movies to make one feel good is a good thing.

By the way, Full Monty was a good movie. Problem is ... some jobless men who are not good-looking may feel even more depressed after watching it. They can't earn a living if they want to do a "Full Monty".

Yes. Please don't keep me in suspense.

Follow these steps.

1) Stop doing anything which distracts or medicates your feelings away, ie. sit still and do nothing. No alcohol, no internet, no tv, no books, no company, no food, nothing.
2) Be as real and authentic as you can - what do you really feel?
3) Once the negative feeling is identified, put it into words, eg. right now, I really feel...
4) Identify where in the body you hold this feeling
5) Identify a movie which portrays the opposite emotion/scenario as accurately as possible
6) Wait for the moment in the movie when the opposite [positive] feeling [in you] is most intense
7) immediately switch your entire focus to the words (3) and feeling (4) as identified above
8) As soon as you have done this, switch back to the movie and let the good feeling come up again
9) Now switch back and forth as soon as each opposite is felt
10) After a while the mind will settle naturally on just the desired emotion and will permanently cancel out the undesirable schema.

There's a whole scientific theory behind this. Try it first. If it works for you, I'll explain.
Sometimes getting step 3 and 5 right is tricky, but you might get lucky.

I've been thinking about this in a back of mind sort of way for while...

'The Wages of Fear'

Whether the thread title is laced with irony or straight up, it'll cover both bases.

Movies that jobless people can feel better about themselves after watching.

Aren't all movies are movies for the jobless? :D

Cinderella Man
Pursuit of Happyness (Lesson, as Wil Smith tell us: you gotta work at it, it is a pursuit not a right)
Life of Brian (just for laughs).

Then there's the US election campaigns and our own one coming up... life will be great if we vote for them and a misery if the other party win. Pick both sides and you can't lose.

----

Movies tend to only let us past the time. Maybe more motivational and more useful, putting things in perspective a bit... from reading biographies and history.

I don't know if its for the jobless,

But this Movie looks freaking good, I am looking forward to it.

whaaat? And not Batman vs Superman?

It's because it's Marvel/Disney isn't it :D

Na, it does look pretty cool. But I'll also waste a few bucks on Batman, featuring Superman, tomorrow too.
