He was a very successful Premier in terms of length of service, but I can't remember a great deal that he did for NSW.
At times he was a bully according to his colleagues, and his main reason from what I've read for being in politics seemed to be money and power itself.
Still, he got rid of Askin, so I suppose that was an achievement in itself.
