Emails with pictures of Osama Bin-Laden hanged are being sent and the moment that you open these emails your computer will crash and you will not be able to fix it!

If you get an email along the lines of 'Osama Bin Laden Captured'

or 'Osama Hanged' don't open the attachment.

This e-mail is being distributed through countries around the globe.
Be considerate & send this warning to whomever you know.

You should be alert during the next days:
Do not open any message with an attached filed called

'Invitation' regardless of who sent it.

It is a virus that opens an Olympic Torch which 'burns' the whole hard disc C of your computer.


This virus will be received from someone who has your e-mail address in his/her contact list, that is why you should send this e-mail to all your contacts.


It is better to receive this message 25 times than to receive the virus and open it.

If you receive a mail called 'invitation', though sent by a friend, do not open it and shut down your computer immediately.

This is the worst virus announced by CNN, it has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever.

This virus was discovered by McAfee yesterday, and there is no repair yet for this kind of virus.

This virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc, where the vital information is kept.

sorry to be a killjoy, but did you actually check on the Mcafee site to confirm this? I just did and there is nothing of the sort on their radars.
It reminds me of the email where Bill Gates will give you 10k US to forward emails.

GUARDS ALMOST HAD TO KILL BIN LADEN: REPORT



US forces in Afghanistan came so close to discovering Osama bin Laden in the winter of 2004-2005 that his supporters were on the verge of killing him to prevent his capture, Newsweek magazine says.
Bin Laden's entourage, ordered to kill the Al Qaeda chief and themselves to avoid capture, were about to take the drastic action using a special code word when nearby US troops moved off in a different direction, the magazine said.
"If there's a 99 per cent risk of the sheikh (bin Laden) being captured, he told his men that they should all die and martyr him as well," Newsweek quoted Egyptian Al Qaeda operative Sheikh Said as telling Taliban official Omar Farooqi.
The near-miss by US forces occurred on the lawless border area between Afghanistan and Pakistan, the magazine reported.
In its cover story on the six-year-old search for bin Laden, the mastermind of the September 11, 2001 attacks on New York and Washington, Newsweek also said the intense US search for him had made little progress in several years.
"There hasn't been a serious lead on Osama bin Laden since early 2002," Bruce Reidel, a retired CIA South Asia expert, told the magazine.
"What we're doing now is shooting in the dark in outer space. The chances of hitting anything are zero," said an unidentified intelligence official.

If anyone gets that annoying little "MySearchResults" malware attached to their FireFox browser, you can remove it by looking for "default tab" by search LLC in programs and uninstalling it.

We copped a virus a couple of days ago, it was a browser called conduit. It was a real pain and corrupted the windows 32 register.
What a waste of a day sorting that out.

Vodafone sent me a note, saying they had discovered I'd receive a $16 tax refund on last year's phone bill. Please click here to logon to your Vodafone account, then provide your tax file number and drivers license, so we can verify it's really you.
They even sent the same message to two of my email addresses, neitherregistered with Vodafone..

Funny thing is, I only have a private mobile with them, $20 annually prepaid for emergencies when the wife runs into trouble en route to or from shopping.

Just curious, are you using Windows XP or something ancient SP?

Have you thought about upgrading to 7 or 8?

I made to the move to Apple 2 years ago and don't regret a thing. Most programs now have a Mac version (ie, Outlook, Office etc etc). I just got fed up with Microsoft.

No - or little - viruses and malware (compared to Microsoft). And the laptop 'just works'!

O.k I'm a dinasour, I run xp on my laptop and netbook.

The virus was on the wifes laptop running windows 7 though.

Maybe the hackers have moved on from xp?

I always suggest to people to set up their day to day account as a standard user with no admin rights.

That way if a virus does try to install on your PC it can't as your user account doesn't have the rights needed to make changes to the opperating system.

You can always install programs by logging into the admin account, or you can run the install program as an admin.

Windows 7 made this a lot easier, the older versions of windows a a PITA to do this with.

Has anyone recieved theseemails? I did a while back from my former VP of corporate development and of course i accepted...well its manged to send out the same thing to my whole gmail contact list.

Since gmail is a web based email system i cannot seem to find the best way to stop it...

Any IT gurus have a solution?

And could any above IT guru please advise if anyone just opening the email but then deleting it, not clicking on "Accept" is at risk?

Latest one doing the rounds is that the ATO want to refund $268.88 from last years assessment and asks you to click on the link to submit.

Would think not Julia. Opening an email and not "accepting" the invitation would not cause the malware to onsend?
