hope we arent banned from talking about this case:)

contrast what New Zealand did when they caught Mossad agents abusing their passports, publicly tried and jailed them...good on NZ.

I am disgusted that the proven fact Israel is abusing Australian sovereign rights has not been met with more outrage.

speaks to a unhealthy Jewish influence in this country imo.

looking at the situation of this case, I have formed the conclusion that by far the most plausible explanation is this gentleman had been recruited by Australian Security Services to act as a double agent, and was detected by Israel.

In fact, I cant think of any other explanation that adds up, given the obvious reluctance of Australia to comment, and I doubt it would be that they arent livid about it

Do I detect a whiff of anti-semitism here,this young fella made a conscious to do natio in Israel,being an AU CITIZEN, he apparently could not decide which master to serve.The Israelis take security very seriously with good reason.I find it telling that his family are not commenting.Al

I don't think so he was held with out trial and with out identity within the system the ultimate sin for a democracy and especially for the Jewish state given so many Jews died in similar dire circumstances.

He was after all an Australian but given successive Australian governments of both persuasions are happy to turn a blind eye I guess we will have to wait to see if the Israeli system will give up and details.

If he was British all hell would break lose.

He betrayed this country. His use of Australian passports puts the holders of Australian passports in greater danger. If he wanted to go off and play mossad commando he should have surrended his Australian citizenship (he'd already served in the Israeli army for god sake).

The family has been compensated by Israel. Probably a "gag order/no comment order" on them for receiving the compensation.

  • Ben Zygier had requested 4 Australia passports in 4 years
  • Ben Zygier was involved in the hit on Hamas operative Mahmoud al-Mahbouh in Dubai, Jan. 2010.
  • The cell at Ayalon was monitored 24/7
  • CCTV were turned off at time of death
  • Had been in contact with ASIO
  • Ben Zygier new details about a big, intricate, Mossad operation that was getting assembled and readied for an Italian operation

Not necessarily, but I do question why Australia takes a very strong pro-Israel stance, more so than almost every other country, check our UN record...and for what?... so they can spit in our face, with the diplomatic outrage of continuing to use Oz passports for Crime?

The "young fella" was a DUAL citizen, he made his own bed and got to lie in it.

It is known that the Holy Grail for Security Agencies is to implant persons within their rival agencies.

It is known Mossad do this.

I am of the opinion that Australian Security Agencies would/do this, if they are capable.

If I was in charge of those matters, I would take whatever steps were needed to stop Israel abusing us in this manner, after they have already failed to heed repeated requests

This whole episode sounds like a complete fubar.

All was going well, in the realm of spooks.

And then he died.

Who will ever know what really happened.

By the very nature of subsequent revelations he may have been ill-suited for his role.

I see Bob Carr is once again today having to grovel in a most humiliating way, he must be ropeable that the dimwits in his department made him into an international laughing stock, (thereby inflaming this whole debacle imo), with him saying one thing one day, opposite the next. Betcha there is a miserable hellhole posting for that peon.

Now it would seem Smith and Rudd are contradicting that they were told either, or they cant remember

btw, I probably misnamed this thread, its the abuse of Oz passports I object to more so than whatever may have happened to the individual

If you're going to spy for another country, I won't regard you as Australian.

I see no difference between this and Hicks.
 
I am a fierce critic of Israel but even more-so I have no faith that a Zionist state in Palestine will ever be tenable. But that is irrelevant to prisoner X because he was an Israeli citizen. Regardless of the fact that he had dual Australian citizenship, when he is in Israel he is an Israeli. That was his choice in becoming a dual citizen. If I was Bob Carr that is what I would say fair and square. Whether he breached Australian law is another matter, but Australia owed him no consular/government assistance while he was in Israel as an Israeli citizen.

Was just speaking to a Jewish lady about this. She is disgusted and ashamed with what Israel has done on this occasion and also specifically said "...one is not allowed to say "boo" about Israel otherwise you are branded with that stupid word "antisemite" which just means "don't criticise anything jewish or you will be demonised"

Agree, DB008.

Between the Greens on the Extreme Left, and the Far Right on the other there is not much room for sensible Australian debate on Israel.

The charge of anti semitism is too oft thrown by muppets and non-muppets to gain traction in debate. It detracts from true anti semitism as practised by states surrounding Israel.

I admire the Israelis for what they have achieved, and believe in their right to statehood.

Prisoner X does not seem to have been the brightest of Mossad operatives, and I see no reason why Bob Carr is having a go at our Diplomatic Service, when Prisoner X was an Israeli spy, with Israeli citizenship, in an Israeli jail.

Maybe I'm missing something.

I originally left this forum for trying to discuss Israeli human rights abuses and being attacked for it.

Good to see some reason back here.

Any nation that immediately goes on the defensive to shut down critique of its own society is doomed. Japan, Israel, Islamic countries, all exhibit these characteristics in the extreme.
