Coal "magnate" Nathan Tinkler walks away from Newcastle Knights.

Fairly dissappointing, the Knights board have a reputation for being difficult, local MP Jody Mackay, said they were the worst she had dealt with !

My take is this is what will happen: Tinkler has a reputation as a very hard negotiator

Members will call a meeting and the board will be sacked

Tinklers ALREADY reduced offer will get up ( needs 75% support from the members tho)

More sport..a funny video of legendary Hawiain pro surfer Sonny Garcia ferociously bashing not 1 but 2 members of the public.

2 assault charges will emanate imo

Sunny Garcia is a thug who has also done time for tax fraud.

The Hawaiian gorilla must have thought he was on his home turf of the North Shore of Oahu where this type of Hawaiian hospitality is regularly dished out to foreign surfers.

Go home Garcia and pick on someone your own size.

I'm usually a lurker but this has made me want to post.

Even though Tinkler's deal wasn't for $100mill outright, rather underwriting $10mill/year sponsorship, how can a club who has only ever broke even or made a loss afford to knock back a deal like this? My thoughts are that Tew and Burraston knew that they had no place on a future board and couldn't put the team/region before themselves. I think it's safe to assume that a number of major sponsors will walk away from the club in the coming weeks. Tinkler obviously has the region's best interests at heart, as opposed to others such as Constantine who used the Newcastle Jet's as perosnal hobby/business.

Obviously Burraston and Tew have not heard of the saying "beggars cant be choosers"

I have no doubt Tew and Burraston would be instantly dismissed.

However, that does not neccesarily mean Tinklers offer was all it was made to be.

According to Knights press conference, Tinkler wanted the club for next to nothing.

He absolutely held a gun to their head the whole time

imo, the board need to get completely independant audit and put it to the members.

If they dont, they will probably be voted out

Community support for Tinklers offer is very high

I agree Garcia is a thug, known to be the most intimidating surfer

afaic, looking at that video, I would say a jail sentence would not be out of the question, should the 2 persons make formal complaint.

I have seen some stupid things in my time, but the bashing in the surf, and of the other guy really looked bad.

If that was an AFL, or NRL player they would be banned and jailed
