Indeed, and that he had to struggle for what he achieved, unlike some other composers, e.g. Mozart, from whom the music simply streamed out effortlessly.

The man is a legend and inspiration. It could be debated as to who was the better genius of the two.

This movement has a sense of perfection ( every note placed just right )

Also I find full of feeling



Genius is where you find it
In the case of Music many composers and many pieces
There is Genius to be found..

This piece really touches something inside..

Motorway, if you're not already familiar with it, the Max Bruch Violin Concerto, No. 1 in G Minor, is exceptionally beautiful. Offers immense sadness followed by rising hope and optimism. At least that's the way it feels to me. Touches my heart every time I listen to it which is often.

Many CD's will have it with the Mendelsshon Violin Concerto in E Minor which is lovely too.

So nice to see some discussion of classical music on this thread.

Not sure I agree with your statement.

Mozart started from a very young age so was proficient quickly. But from my limited knowledge of musical history he worked his guts out until he died at the age of 35.

Like anybody who has made a name for themselves it wasn't "effortless".

Like anybody who has made a name for themselves it wasn't "effortless".

By the time Mozart was fifteen
The amount of practice he had done was already more than a lifetimes..

He is one pointed to regarding the 10000 hour rule
( which he had already under his belt at a very early age both in Playing and Composition )

Mozart was not only one of the most gifted pianists and violinists of his era, but his compositions by the age of ten were masterful. By the time he wrote his ninth opera, the delightful and still frequently performed Finta Giardiniera, he was just eighteen.
