Political Schadenfreude

Yes:) What makes it even better was she was the Howard Haters' idol

What gives me that feeling of schadenfreude is that the Unions poured much of their ill-gotten wealth down the drain in a nasty lying advertising campaign against Abbott. It was probably counter productive.

Maxine McKew being tossed out was the highlight of the night for me.
I'll never forget how she gloated about unseating John Howard.

Further, after all the interviews she conducted on the 7.30 Report, purporting to be neutral, her involvement with Labor eventually showed her clear colours, so it's decidedly satisfying that she's now having some experience of karma.
Good for John Alexander.

Maxine McKew :D

I guess she could always go back to the Australian Labor Party Broadcasting Service

So, so true.

Ain't schadenfreude the greatest comeback of all, or in McKew's case, go back.

No doubt she'll be on AM again with the two stuttering dames of distress who presently fly the Labor flag of a morning for the ABC.

And the ABC have probably paid her long service leave as well as everything else.

I must confess I enjoyed seeing that too. Her dismissal, on Q&A, of a discussion about voluntary euthanasia as a 'slippery slope' demonstrated how gutless she was.

An even more enjoyable highlight would have been to see Garrett dismissed as punishment for his incompetence but, alas, that was not to be.

Still you cant change history, little Johnny going down like he did will live long in my memory.

Well my little moment of schadenfreude for this election was seeing that old fossil and racist coward Wilson 'Iron Bar' Tuckey lose his seat. Especially as he became my federal member with the generation of the seat of O'Connor.

Yes, and the long nose redheaded dingbat may also go down in history as the shortest term Prime Minister in history.

I must agree, I'm glad Tuckey is gone, he was an embarrassment for the conservative forces, much as Bill Shorten is now for the Labor side.

Both are bantams, full of feather and fury, but ultimately damaging to all the chooks in their paddock.

Knew Tucky from Carnarvon before O'Connor got him only thing I'll say is the iron bar part is a fallacy

You Labor guys always live in the past, the future is what battlers and nations look to.

Next you'll resurrect Whitlam and Hawke.

Get with the vibe and dream of a castle mate.

Aussies are getting fed up with sly politics. The power hungry fools in the ALP think they are quite smart.

We do not like being treated like idiots, while they push with their hidden agenda to nationalize mining, then the Banks, only the big ones ……….no money in the little’ns.

The population is wake up to the Big Plan. What’s it called? Oh that’s right, Socialism.
To read the ‘Constitution of the ALP’ is an eye opener

It was quit appropriate 60 years ago when workers like my Father had less working rights than a cattle dog, but now they have done their job, our standard of living is among the highest worldwide.

The only ‘Fat Cats’ we have in this country are those over fed, over paid, bums in the
ALP caucus continually trying to justify their own existence…..they are redundant and obsolete.

I hink on ABC 24 News Tv Program they run through the list of shortest serving PM's and Ms Julia was 5-th shortest or 6-th.

The shortest serving one was only 20 days as PM

I reckon if you'd included the option in yesterday's ballot of returning to the Howard government, with the proviso that workchoices was dead, there would have been a stampede to the ballot boxes.

Given the pathetic behaviour of almost all MP's since the unseating of the Howard government, and the lack of effective, properly managed policies, plus the woeful waste of taxpayer dollars, John Howard's days seem in retrospect quite halcyon.

You won't, of course, agree, So Cynical, but that is less a reflection of reality than a reflection of your lack of objectivity.

Yes, I'm surprised the media has not made more of this. It has taken far too long, of course, but finally we will be rid of this idjit.

Maxine MKews' meltdown was nowhere near as good as Cheryl Kernot in October 1998 ! After playing hide the sausage with Gareth Evans and being swooned over to the dark side of Labor politics she was given the seat of Dickson to play with. Thinking she was parachuted into a safe seat she soon found out that the Libs had taken the early lead on election night. Kerry O'Brien did the media cross to check in how the numbers were going for the star recruit.

She unloaded all of her ammunition directly into the belly of the Labor Beast and named names for her downfall. The switchboard lit up. The silly moo did not realise that there were still two booths to come in. AND guess what ! She one by a very very narrow margin. 217 votes I think it was in the end.

HAR HAR ... now that was one of the best Schadenfreude political moments I have witnessed. Even better than Gough Whitlam, even better than Keatings ungraciuos farewell speech even better than dare I say it when Mark Latham truly self destructed when he was asked about his sons schooling. LMAO

Maxine MKew was a mere blip but still very telling of the support she received from the redcoats. :D

Is that why the biggest % swing of votes went to the greens and not Liberals?

If Shorten can dodge the axe as long as Tuckey, he will probably end up at the top of the pecking order, unlike poor old Wilson.

I guess Wilson 'length of heavy electrical cable' Tuckey doesn't have the same ring to it :)

My schadenfreude was seeing BOTH sides having to grovel to a Green and a couple of independents.

Well I wouldn't have been quite so personal Noco...but the nose got longer, like Pinocchio.

Shrill mendacity at the the end, eg '..workchoices tomorrow..', and afterwards, utterly obsequious towards the independents, congratulating them before thanking her own.

And I'm no fashion commentator, but what was the white lab coat about?

I reckon the ALP roosters took notice of it all.
