On my way back from the Atherton Tablelands today in the Arnage, I quickly passed three Pious'

The first was doing 85kph in an 80 zone.
The second 85kph in a 70 zone
And unbelievably the third was doing 110kph ( didn't know they went that fast, thought they were like Yamaha Jogs with speedlimiters to 60) in a 100 zone.

I dobbed them in to Crimestoppers, as if they have no brakes they are a menace at the speed limit and even more so when they flout it.

In addition they would be Green voters and not possessed of the same driving abilities of Liberal/National or even ALP voters.

I thought the Pious was off the road because the brakes don't work.

Where are the Police when they are needed, certainly not in Innisfail, or on the Bruce Highway.

You should talk to Sting. He might be able to point you in the right direction.

FYI I have some original Police vinyl albums.

Good band.

PS: Yes, the Pious is a strange breed. Remind me of mini Popemobiles.

Thanks for the support fellow ASF members.

The point I would push is that if the brakes do not work, they should not be just recalled.

They should just be stopped.

A special force such as that Baldy git from Midnight Oil led to electrify people's roofs, should be given police powers to drag the vehicles in.

At a certain time, e.g. midnight tonight, all Pious' should be declared dangerous, and stopped where they are.

Baldy could arrange for them to be towed to the nearest Toyota dealer to have the brakes fixed.

I mean this is serious.

THE BRAKES DON'T WORK.

As to those meanspirited poor people out there slagging me for doing 150kph in the Arnage, this is a safe speed given the technology under the bonnet and the skill of the driver, and the rotating plates ( Thanks Kennas ).

I would be as safe at 150kph as someone in a Camry or some other awful car at 80kph.

No speed is safe in a Pious as the bloody thing can't be assured of stopping.

The most effective solution for both the environment and dodgy brakes is a Flintstone version.

It is as I surmised in my first post in this thread.

It is not the fault of Toyota, that the cars won't stop when the brakes are applied.

It is the PIOUS' DRIVERS,

GREEN VOTERS TO A PERSON.

They should be taken off the road.

Whalers, Warmeners and Wailers. We need a Tom Waits to put this debacle to music.

Toyota has submitted a letter to the US Congress denying there is a fault with the electronics in millions of vehicles it has recalled due to problems with the accelerator, reports say.

In its letter submitted to the US House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, which is investigating the Toyota recalls, the carmaker says it 'is convinced that there is no problem' with the electronics in its vehicles, the Japanese dailies Yomiuri and Nikkei reported on Sunday, without disclosing sources.

The guvment needs to take action. If you know a Green call Crimestoppers. They are out to harm and maim us all.

Thanks for the laugh on the pious drivers GG. Obviously a slow news Sunday and we need to have something delightfully absurd to comment on.

Well done !!:)

PS Perhaps we should have a competition for the most imaginatively constructed new thread? Of course GG would have to be banned on alternative months to give everyone else a go.

I would vote for a thread such as

Lets Prosecute GG for his litigious nature.

I'm not impugning your driving ability in any way GG, but have you thought about what may happen when the other silly driver in a 4x4 does something stupid and hits you when you are travelling that fast?

All the german engineering in the world won't save you when the higher wheel base of the other vehicle means that the two chassis don't connect in an impact.

The 4x4's chassis connects with the Armage's engine...which then ends up in your spleen.

Mind you the same thing happens at 80 Km's if it's a 4x4 - which is why I'd happily sign a petition to ban them in suburban environments.

Cheers

braking is environmentally unfriendly, as it wastes kinetic energy, and therefore leads to greater fuel consumption.

Perhaps this is why Prius have dodgy brakes?

I avoid excessive braking whilst driving, and as well as saving fuel, I only have to replace the brake pads and discs very rarely, saving quite a few hundred dollars per cycle
