I was at BigW today and there were no trolleys. I found a Trolley boy and promised him a $2 coin if he could get me a trolley in less than 60 seconds.

He returned in 30 seconds with a trolley.

I asked him what he would do with the $2.

He said he was starting to buy shares once he had saved $2000.

Good on him.

Lets hope he doesn't save it until Dec 2009.

This a bubble if I ever saw one.

And also I might mention that there is a chronic lack of trolleys at Stocklands BigW in Townsville.

Couldn't agree more GG, although I'd have to see some firm data to confirm if there are indeed more trolley crashes in October. The problem appears not to be so much with the trolley boys but those who are manipulating them to make it appear to everyone else that there is in fact a shortage of trolleys. I know I got caught up in the frenzy last week at Coles, where no matter how many trolleys were unloaded from the factory truck, they were just as quickly taken by fearfull shoppers, apparently because of a rumour that there was a shortage looming.

Things were desperate by then, and as I reached for the last trolley, so did an 85 year old lady. As I reigned blows apon her, it suddenly occured to me that there must be more to life than this; surely someone could make enough trolleys to satisfy the need of all those who wake in fright & cry out in the middle of the night at the thought of going to the supermarket and ending up trolleyless!

But there was a clue - there not so discreetly stamped into the base of the trolley were the initials GS! The squid had consumated the monopolistic capitalist system completely, and now controlled everything. I am now a Goldman Sachs trolley boy, manager, post check-out logistics and intra store transport division.

Haha :) I try to avoid Stocklands on a Saturday ;)
Hope your wrong about the bubble but for once I've got stop losses set under everything.
That kid may be a millionaire some day, most kids (inc my own) wouldn't move a muscle for $2

hahah.. I used go to the airport and collect trolleys and return them to the machines for the 20c. Got $5 in a day once :D
But they've gotten rid of that now :(

Lol, love a hard working young lad.

But for $5? Did that even pay for the bus fare to get to the airport?

Try offering $2 to a trolley boy in Melbourne to do the same and he's turn round and sweetly tell you to get the ****ing thing yourself and stick you're $2 up your ****.

The only thing that worries me is that when trolley boys and taxi drivers start to talk about buying shares.............?

I nearly got into a fight with a trolley boy (he was actually an old ****er) when he didn't let me go to my car with the trolley to post my heavy items. He fought i was going to steal it and wouldn't let go of the trolley so i told him to **** off!

PS

And what's so bad about Big W

GG,

Big W?

Sorry to hear you have fallen on hard times:eek:

:) Then again some shop at BigW despite being able to afford Fletcher Jones or DJ's - which is why they can afford Fletcher Jones or DJ's but nevertheless still shop at BigW.

Thanks gooner and Judd: you've both made me laugh.

Nothing wrong with BigW for some things. Some of the op shops have even better bargains!:D

I did it when we were picking up/dropping friends or relatives to the airport.. its amazing how many trolleys you can find in 1-2hrs whilst they check in and all that

Nothing wrong with regular people buying shares.. don't 50%+ of Australians own shares directly/indirectly now anyway

When my wife is not watching I take the trolley from airport often left in the car park and then carry my stuff. I save whole $3. Ha :D

Bubble bursting time again - Already???

Luckily I needed to get my investments out just now to buy some property after managing to pick up my losses from the last dive. So double dip recession it is?

Yes, certainly was lucky. Now that you've sold, and locked in your profits, the market will surely fall back to 3600. Perfect timing on the bubble :)

A hindsight post ... not made in hindsight?
