Bernie is getting a second life.

I believe I saw him in sombre tone months ago on TV, advertising Industry Super or Funeral Insurance, I can't remember which.

Now the dills who run Queensland are paying him 2.5k a day, thats $6.5 mil a year.

For what ????

He should go on reality TV.

Just choose a show and he'd make a mint.

gg, hopefully, you use Excel for your stock market calculations ;)

No mate , did it in me head, 2.5k X 365 / 7 and then X 5.

I made the bastard work a 5 day week.

I think its close to the mark, but apologise if its wrong.

Its still a lot more than he got for advertising funeral insurance.

I don't use calculators or excel for money sums,

Bernie Fraser (rugby union)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bernard Gabriel 'Bernie' Fraser (born July 21, 1953) is best known as a former New Zealand All Black rugby union player.

Bernie Fraser was born in Lautoka, Fiji. He is the father of New Zealand Award winning singer-songwriter Brooke Fraser.

nun, I'm surprised.

I thought we were talking this Bernie Fraser http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernie_Fraser_(economist)

But I must admit to thinking him much too ossified to be a decent chef.

On second thoughts, just who the **** are we talking about?

Sorry , Wayne is correct.

I had a trickcyclist mate over last night.

Just doppleganging.

There is only one Bernie Fraser in Australia.

The guy on TV with the funeral insurance or superannuation ads, used be head of the Reserve Bank, went to Junee High School I believe, then TAFE, where he got a Cert 2 in Bookkeeping and then shortly after was made Governor of the Reserve Bank.

yeah the only bernie i know of has that funny nasal voice talking about real important issues on tv

there must be another bernie out there

I am stunned!

Bernie Fraser is so persuasive and charismatic that Premier Bligh hired him to persuade the unions that selling $15 billion of the States assets is good for their jobs, i.e. they would be happier working for private enterprise than for the Government. Not an easy case to sell.

After listening to Bernie droning on for one day they all fell asleep. His $2,500 daily fee will continue for a while, but it's is not expected they can hold out for too long. They would prefer water-boarding.

Hi Garpal Gumnut,

Wasn't he the Reserve Bank Governor when interest rates went through the roof and helped gives us Keating's Recession. I never liked him because of that..The 1990s recession caused too much pain, particularly here in Victoria which also had a poor government (Cain and Kirner) at the time. What is he going to sell us next?

The very one, greggy, its amazing, the most difficult thing about a job, is getting it.

I could advertise funeral insurance or advise the Q Government on any number of issues.

$2.5k a day would keep me going for a while.

Would you like a quiet word to be placed in the ear of the Premier, gg?

Maybe special adviser on reality cooking programmes?
Or perhaps adviser on the stupidity of attempting to pull the wool over the eyes of disaffected voters?
Any number of suitable positions you could fill, to the benefit of the State.

Even with your worst effort, you could hardly make her more unpopular than she is now.

I'm glad GG isn't doing my accounting, and 2.5k a day isn't exactly a mind blowing daily rate for a well established professional.

What ? you need to get some understanding of thought comprehension before posting such empty ramblings , go to bed girl.

Thanks Julia, that would be great.

Please let her know that

1. I am willing to work for $2.49k a day, $10 less that ole funereal Bernie.

2. Many people underestimate the length of the Bentley Arnage and any free parking will need to take that into account.

3. I am not a Liberal.

4. I would be happy to stay in one of the apartments in the Parliament precinct ( close to the smokers zone ), or at the Marriott (top floor) (river view).

5. I have a few good ideas on spin that would probably get Labor re-elected with an increased majority.

6. Finally, I have no dietary requirements and would be happy to eat at any of Brisban'e fine eateries on the credit card which I assume is on top of the $2.49k a day, or even in the Parliament dining room if the chef is the same as when I last dined there two years ago.

Bobby thats the second time recently you've been critical of a post of mine for no apparent reason and the second time you've referred to me as a girl. I can only assume you are bitter because of my criticism of a thread you started a few weeks ago.

I know of plenty of situations where senior consultants are charged out at rates of $2000 or more a day for short term assignments and these aren't people with qualifications as impressive as 'ex governor of the reserve bank'.

Regardless of the monotone voice, or his suitability for this particular role, the rate is nowhere near excessive for someone with his credentials.

And in relation to the accounting comment - GG translated 2.5K a day to 6 million a year - but its only $650k a year - so I was just having a little dig at the arithmetic error.

Is that enough understanding and thought comprehension for you?

"qualifications as impressive as 'ex governor of the reserve bank".

To negotiate with unions? I can't think of many less qualified. His qualifications are that he is an old Labor mate.
