I have an 07 Prado Auto D4D GXL. On top of the $60K pricetag, I have fitted the following:

$4K - Eclipse Stero Unit - GPS / DVD / I-Pod Controller / Rear Camera
$1K - Fitted Custom Sheepies, front and middle
$0.5K - Towbar / Mats / Cargo Liner / Dash Mat
$2K - Sovereign Bullbar
$0.1K - IPF Fatboys
$0.6K - IPF Spotties
$2.1K - Bilstein Shocks & Springs - 55mm lift
$1.5K - Cargo Barrier / 1.8m Roof Basket / Rhino Crossbars / 2 x Sets of Fishing Rod Clamps
$0.7K - Portable Air Compressor / Snatch Strap

And another $10K in Camping & Fishing Equip. I've got so much that I can't fit it all into the car.

The only other mods I want to do is once the Manufacturer tyres run out (Grandcraps) I want to go BFG AT's. Also add a Scangauge, about $270, basically a fancy trip computer.

This car / truck will not be on the 'road' that much not worried about noise.

Green, what do you need the 4WD for?
Will it be doing a lap of Australia, truck for the farm or a weekend bush bashing toy?

The above truck sounds like a toy to me, all it needs is diff locks. 37 inch maxxis tyres is it? They're massive tyres. Abosolutely massive!!!

If you are serious about using a vehicle modified as above, then you would need to replace diffs and axles.

otherwise it will not perform properly and will break components using 37" tyres.

You would probably go for air dif locks.

If you even think of venturing off-road without other vehicles, a winch and recovery equipment is the number 1 priority.

They are not on your list!

I have had to recover my vehicle on several occasions using winch, without which, I would have had to abandon my vehicle ( once in the middle of a river)

my experience is that most 4wd spend most of the time ON road.

The amount of lift you are talking of, will make it a dog on-road.

If u want that much lift for serious off-road work, then u need dif-locks + winch

You shouldn't need new diffs and axels, just reduction gearing in the transfer case.

The truck sounds like a serious weekend toy, all it needs is diff locks and its a comp truck, things are going to break regardless. Trucks/cars are expensive toys.

if you are going dif locks, ARB air locks with taller ratio, would cost no more.

would correct for 37s

37s would seriously stress your axles, in most cases.

depends on the type,(unless older Nissan)...

but a broken axle off-road is a major problem, not a very expensive option, I would definately use them in the rears, as most of the kms will still be on-road ( just to get to the off-road)

i agree extra-reduction gearing in TX case would be good idea.(read essential)

best bet is to buy one off someone that has already thrown 20k into it

Trail bike can't pull the loads I need it to - 2 ton. Average.

Also wouldn't take a Kangaroo to well on the front.

Or better still - have one built to your speicification's by your brothers best friend a master mechanic!

For my needs where the land it, I need it out there but I can't wait to drive it to the Lower North Shore muddy - and see the faces on the women who are given them to ' drive the kids to school' but have no idea what to actually do with it or how to drive them. Except block you drive way!

Pulling a Caravan? Or snatching a stuck truck? Don't use 5th gear while towing.

It's a lot easier to swerve round a roo on bike than a 4WD... I know from experiance.

Pat - Fitted the MTZ Mickey Thompson they are (OK big thing for a girl) AWESOME!! They give unbelievable traction.

Was doing 3rd gear up the mountains in a diesel manual with no power steering weight at 3 tonne. Thought I did very well

Not at the stage where I want to meet a Kangaroo on a bike just yet more practice.

I hear the MTZ's and the Baja Claws are great tyres, great on road like Coopers tyres and outstanding off road like Simex tyres.

If possible, post some pics of your off road adventures. Im keen to see your beast of a truck...

Looking at a draw storage system. due to last incident. Best to have things tucked away.

The Nissan Patrol GU ST 4.2 Diesel Turbo is the best car I've driven Pat! My daughter is driving it on her L's, she's confident and feels safe mind you she is not going over 60 kms!!

Next is the dual battery and internal water tank 75 litre. Give the 'Fatboy' bulbs a go they are incredibly powerful best driving at night I've done up here.

Sounds awesome green, you'll have a heap of fun with your Rhino.

Only 2 mods to my Hilux, IPF driving lights and diff breathers, which I did myself.
