suprised that with so many night owls here that this hasn't been discussed before?

Do you drink instant or brew your own?
What's your favourite brand/bean?
How many cups do you drink a day?
Does it affect you adversely?
Are you addicted?

The missus and I bought the new Seaco Talea Ring and haven't looked back. Cafe quality for a fraction of the price (once we payed off the thousand clams it costed)

We're enjoy a Vietnamese bean at the moment that apparently came out of a mongose type animal's sphincter!

I try to limit my intake to 3 cups max per day

Nah, I don't touch that stuff - not good for the heart and if combined with some of the moves this month - could be fatal!!;)

I'll be honest...

Instant
Nescafe (43 blend) used to be "43 beans in every cup"
10-15
No
Don't know?

Wife CANNOT stand the smell of it, if I want a newbeaut - oh for the taste of it - coffee maker, it has to go in the shed! with all my other toys...
But I do try different types when in the big smoke, funny thing is (and not for all) I love aeroplane coffee.

Even have my own cup - seen some wear this baby has.

One of my first purchases after moving here was a nice Delonghi espresso machine. I can't start the day without a couple of espressos.

As for what bean, I'm still working my way through Starbucks range. I've liked some more than others, but I suspect the variance in quality is related to the grind moreso than anything else.

I might be addicted, I don't know. I know that I can't start the day without it, but I very rarely have more than a couple of shots.

I read a heap, and especially philosophy, so what do you reckon? At Uni it goes something like this: coffee before morning lecture, coffee after lecture, iced coffee whilst doing library study, coffee before tute. Repeat.

I really should buy my own machine though. But... that's what I'm like with spending.

I know its an acquired taste but really cant stand it. I think have drank about 3 cups in my whole life.

I've never found i need something to keep me awake. If somethings boring enough to put me to sleep (lectures) then i'll just go home instead of having a coffee

I'm addicted to it thanks to work. I used to drink instant just for the hit at work, but ever since I've been buying freshly made coffee from my closest cafe, I haven't looked back. I keep telling myself that I can quit at anytime if I want to, but it's just not "convenient" to do so at the moment. I think I have a problem :(

Addicted. min 6 cups per day Moconna.

great desert at dinner parties for coffee lovers -Afagata.

1 shooter of short black
1 shooter of frangelico (hazelnut liquior)
1 tall glass, like for red/white wine with large scoop of good quality vanilla icecream.

Present above on a tray with spoon. Just pour the short black & frangelico over the icecream. Gets em all the time.

Brew
Not sure yet
1-3
Sometimes...if I don't drink enough water
Require at least 1 cup in the morning to wake up

Same here, I have never drank a single cup of coffee in my life. I don't need the caffine to keep me awake. Drink green tea instead! :D

You mean Affogato ;)

LOL! You do realise that green tea contains caffeine too? :p:

(although you can buy decaff)

In Bali they keep those funny little creatures in a cage. Im sure they do in vietnam too.

mmmm... esspresso with a twist of cruelty.

Both Nescafe and short black with a flat white chaser.
A merlo blend
probably 2 during the week, 3 on weekends, decaf after dinner if eating out.
Not that I notice.
I can go without with no ill effects.

Has anyone looked into roasting their own beans? I was looking into small commercial roasters recently as I can import good quality cheap Burmese green coffee beans. I realise there is an art to roasting but would like to hear of any attempts good or bad.

cheers,

Haha True, but it's usually natural brew. It's probably not as "addictive" as having the need to drink 4 coffee everyday just to keep awake!
