Yeah congrats and very well done by the Hawks! They played an awesome game and very rarely allowed the Cats room to move. The Hawks constantly had the pressure on resulting in the poor accuracy of the Cats and turnover of possession. I'm a Lions fan but want to acknowledge an extremely good game plan and execution by the Hawks who were underdogs and a very well deserved Premiership!! :D

Yes great game, Hawks completed mission impossible who would have thought sets up next year nicely

Yeah, good game by the Hawks. I'm not a huge fan of AFL but follow the Lions, whom the Hawks played similar too (in their prime), particularly in the third qtr... everything they touched went to hand and points.

If only more games were that well played rather than looking like a bunch of drunks stumbling and fumbling over a greasy pig, I might get converted. :p:

And they had to play against 2 teams.

The umpires had money on that game...

Well done.

Can't stand those whinging Geelong sooks. Arrogant cry babies, Wah wah! Oh noes, they played physical! So on and so forth.

Great game Hawks - well done!!

Let me be the first to congratulate Nomores!!!! Hope you enjoy the moment.

Whiskers - good to hear you are closer to conversion. It is always pleasing to hear people becoming more fond of the greasy pig and less interested in bum sniffing.:p:

As for saying Hawks play like Lions. In general dominate teams all have very similar traits - including hardness at the ball, good forward line structure, good team discipline and great ball skills and movement. Think Geelong 2007-8, Lions 2001-3, Essendon 1999-2000 etc

Alright more time to post.

Cats fans shouldn't feel too bad, history has shown that it is very hard to win back to back flags in the AFL, hasn't happened very often in modern times. Even the great hawks side of the 80's who made 7 GFs in a row only managed back to back once in that streak.

Just goes to show how good the Lions were when they won 3 in a row - but they probably had an advantage by playing Collingwood in 2 of those GFs :p::D

How Geelong bounce back next year will be telling. Will they fall apart like the Bombers (1999-2001) or will they create a true dynasty ala the Hawks of the 80's?

How this young Hawthorn team respond now will also be interesting. Will they continue to improve and make the most of thier potential and become a truly great team? Or have they tasted success to early and fade into mediocrity like the baby bombers of 1993?
This will be the next test of Clarkson he has done a great job of building this side from scratch can he now take them to the next level and dominate the comp? I hope so:D

But for now I'm going to enjoy reliving the GF for the next couple of months and worry about those things next year.:D

A bit of trivia for you - Hawthorn won the flag the year I was born and have now won the year my first child was born, maybe a family tradition beginning? Am trying to talk my wife into having another child next year:p:

Any chance of getting some AFL drug testers down to Tassie come monday.
Whose for some charlie? Buddy.... Hodgie.....Crawfs?
Another tarnished cup this year, given that leaked doctors file earlier this year that got quickly forgotten, was on two Hawks players?

Yes, I'm a Eagles fan, who see's 2 sets of rules in this comp.
And congrats to Hawks on a gutsy win.

hawks only won cause they had franklin

go port 2009 :D

The Franklin who only kicked 2 goals and had almost no influence on the game?

I think the last 2 games have fully busted the myth the hawks need Franklin to fire to win.

By the way thanks for Dew, cost us nothing too:D.

Well done Hawks! I'm not a Hawks fan but i can appreciate their win.

Cheers,

CanOz

Should of blown the Hawks out of the water in the second quarter. The Cats missed their chances and the Hawks took theirs. Enjoy Hawkers! Well done.
Look out next year the Cats will be back with a vengeance!

hello,

yes mexican, a lot comes down to hitting those goals

the Hawks thru the finals series just kept hitting them from everywhere

if geelong got a few more the game may of been completely different

great to see the footage of the team in Tassie, world tour next I think Jeff is planning,

thankyou

There is nothing better seeing a Victorian footy side, who has dominated footy for the last couple years, get beaten in the grand final - absolutely brilliant. Only downer was that another Victorian team won!
Though good on the hawks, big turn around over the last few years.
SA recruit Stewie Dew definetly made the most of it! Though i've had some run ins with Dew at some local Adelaide pubs and he is a bit of a kingprick.

Should be very interesting to see how Geelong and Hawks go next year.. both teams have star players who are still pretty young. Franklin and Roughead are my age.. 22
