I dont know about some of you guys, but i am stoked that the footy is back. As much as i love the cricket, it just got so tiresome in the end, and was glad it was over.

The Richmond vs Carlton game, considering both teams finished 2nd bottom and bottom respectively last year, was a cracker.

Looks like Geelong has started where they finished off, dominating.

All they need to do now, is bring back the biff :D

Gotta luv it.

I'm confused.... you say you are glad the footy is back, but then go on to mention something about Richmond and Carlton.

Since when do they play in the NRL?? :D

Re: Thank God the Footy is back.

First I've not gone to any form of cricket in about 20 seasons. Didn't even make the effort to try to get to the first or second day of the first test of the summer. Didn't try to get to a pura cup / sheffield shield match or even a d grade game at the local oval..
Pretty keen to watch a bit of the Qld cup up here...And for your footy, I'll definately take in a Richmond game at some stage this season..

cheers,

Now I'm confused, :D

I don't see those teams in the Super14 either....just how many codes of "footy" are there floating around these days?

I am talking about the skillful form of the game, with the #1 attendances Australia wide. Sorry for the confusion. :p:

I dont see whats so super about a group of bum sniffers. There is only "one" code of football that more people love in Australia, and played often in all states.

Australian Football League. :aus:

Gone fishing. :fish:

Re: Thank God the Footy is back.

Definitely a good time for footy (AFL!) to start!

Anything to take my mind off these sh1tty markets!

Go Pies!

Re: Thank God the Footy is back.

Yeah - isn't it great!!!!

And so much better than picking the markets. 2 from 2 so far. My luck could be changing.

Great to see the Blue Baggers go down in the first game. Get that up ya Fev!!

Yes footy is back. Both games last night were crackers. I would've like to see Port beat Geelong though although I am happy to wait until Essendon beats them!

GO BOMBERS!

LOL tigerboi. Not called football, its called Rugby. And even then, its not the true rugby is it ? Rah-rah.

AFL might have some sheilas, but the NRL has more thugs.

To each their own.

Your a tragic Tigerboi ,just can't wait till rd 22 rematch at WIN .Hope poor Benji is back by then because you wont have any excuses:D

:DRugby league is the correct name for the NRL,thugs:banghead:???nope its just a real hard phyiscal game where you get hit hard & look to return the favour.
the days of backplay violence are long gone with a squillion cameras recording your every move, thats not to say a good old stink should be cut from the game,as getting over the top of opposing forwards is the most essential part of the game.
This season rugby league celebrates its centenary so for those looking for the history:

Finally my team the balmain tigers(merged with wests in 2000 then took the premiership in 2005 with a bunch of kids & a few hard heads),great memories of growing up 200 metres from leichhardt oval &going to watch the tigers in the 70's & 80's.
Great game when you understand the dynamics...TB..likatiger:D

:DMate 100% correct bring it on..lol..old balmain schoolboys1977,fullback,we crushed the best nz had to offer 33-0,great memories growing up in leichhardt.
junior pearce was school captain, sirro played for north ryde, benny elias at holy cross,i was about 6 years younger than junior & i played for juniors & wanderers, blocker roach came up from the 'gong into A grade for birchy scorpios...greatest league dynasty without a premiership until our nemises
of 1989 tim sheens took us to the glory of 2005,i had waited 32 years for a comp.
I think sheens has got another lot of young guns for this year...
st george what a disappointment for a long time(love it!)1979 is a long time between premierships(you have lost 5 grand finals since!chokers..)
Just to show what a freak benji is look at pat richards try, absolute gamebreaker, gee that got me outta my chair(JD in hand!!)

Oh yeah, absolutely drilling someone in the back, when they are pinned by two guys is definitely my definition of courage, without a doubt. As is pulling someone's legs apart in a tackle when they can't defend themselves.

I think I'll stick to watching Longtrack and Ice Speedway when I want to see courage. Where arterial bleeds thanks to spikes in the tires, are not just a thing of the past!

I wonder what its like to slide a bike at 160k's an hour...

- I notice there is a box of tissues in the middle of that photo you have. Is that to clean the w@nk juice up after you've "laid" all that stuff out?

thugs:banghead:???nope
When I become a pack rapist, I'll let you know, and I can then join your team, play in the "scrum" next to you.

its just a real hard phyiscal game where you get hit hard & look to return the favour.
Obviously you've never seen a demolition derby.

the days of backplay violence are long gone
Or Mal Brown... LOL!

Doesn't matter if you are allowed heights of courage outlined in my first sentence.

The only time I can watch league is when I am either exceptionally drunk, or exceptionally tired. Which probably says a lot for the IQ of the people that watch it, and or play it. I just can't see how you can tell the difference in the quality of the players. I don't think they are terribly strong either, just big. The bro, on this site, out cleaned and out squatted the Raiders in their gym. Granted, he's a walking barrel, but he's not huge, nor is he in the gym league of hammer throwers. Maybe that just says something for the Raiders? I wouldn't know.

I enjoy watching union though. It's great tactically and strategically, and has quite a bit of skill. All about positioning. I just don't understand why league has a ball. Might as well just play chasey with a crow bar. Most of the players wield them away from playing anyway.

I've noticed these kicking terms coming into union though. The drop punt, and "banana". Was funny hearing the NZ commentators cofusion about its origin. Must be because Giteau has been watching too much AFL.

Anyway, my Freo membership came with my anti depressants this year. So it's not all bad. :D

Cheers.

Hi chops,

It is one HUGE adrenalin rush, corner after corner ... NO BRAKES,
it's just POWER ON and lay it down as far as you dare ..... !~!

..... and chops, i can promise you, that those old-style fences (made of
railway sleepers, end-on into the ground) do not bend easily, even when
sliding a bike into them, at that speed ..... !~!

It is funny looking back now, but it was veeeery painful then !~!

..... an AFL game lasts a lot longer and is a whole lot safer ..... lol ... :)

have a great weekend

paul

Yeah, I saw a fair few riders head butt those old Claremont fences. Lol!

Riding solos is perhaps the most fun I've ever had in my life. Just like the take off point in a jumbo, right the way around the track. And it feels just as fast as well. I'll get back into it eventually. At least we have another track now.

Luckily, never put it into the concrete at Bibra Lake.

Here's one for our nostalgia, from the end of the golden years of speedway riding (assuming your time frame too), Ivan Mauger's career ending crash. The greatest motorcycle rider of all time, and NZ's best ever sportsman, coming down at 100mph in the 81 world longtrack final:

Looks like 18-52 gearing or even less. Pretty insane.

Look mate can't see collingwood winning the granny after Geelong's early form. Would be good to see richmond at least make the eight. Lets just see where they are in 20 weeks time and make a new judgement.

I like the game of AFL.

It's all the nauseating all-pervading "analysis" , provided by armchair supercoaches, which drives me insane.
