NEW HEARING TEST AVAILABLE OVER THE PHONE

A new hearing test is now available to all Australians using a 24 hour toll-free telephone number.
Last year Australian Hearing developed the automated program, which allows people to determine whether they have a hearing loss by responding to sounds played over the phone.
Human Services Minister Joe Ludwig, who launched the new test today, says the new version of the program uses breakthrough technology.
"It's a far more sophisticated test and it will help," he said.
"We know that about one in five Australians suffer from a hearing loss, and it gets worse as unfortunately you grow old.
"So this really helps people, in the privacy of their own home, to be able to access the system."

Luckily don’t need it yet, but just wander why ABC stopped short of publishing the number.

Don’t tell me they didn’t want to break privacy law.

I tried it, but couldn't hear the instructions

....:D Only joking, sorry! Saw an easy entry, & took it.

Hahaha.
I couldn't read the number and couldn't remember what number I was looking up.

Bit like Rowan Atkinson ( Mr Bean) - a skit once

"Now there is a phone to let deaf people know when the phone is ringing..."

there's Atkinson sitting in a lounge chair with the phone across the room from him.

phone starts ringing ... he doesn't notice (being deaf) .... end of act 1.

"Now look what happens with the "visual phonering"

same scene , phone starts ringng - this time it has a red light flashing on the handle, - he sees it !

walks across the room!!

- and picks it up !!!

and puts it down again when he can't hear a damned thing.
