She was taken handcuffed and crying from her home. She was escorted into court disheveled, without makeup, hair askew and face red with tears.

Crying out for her mother when she was ordered back to jail, Paris Hilton's cool, glamorous image evaporated Friday as she gave the impression of a little girl lost in a merciless legal system.

"It's not right!" shouted the weeping Hilton. "Mom!" she called out to Kathy Hilton, who also was in tears.

Agreed, but the Yanks are on a different planet and thats were Australia is heading with this obsession with Celebratys, one guy on the News likened Paris Hiltons Jail sentance to that of Nelson Mandela, FFS get real !!!!!!!!!!!.

I was in the states when the Actor Rob Lowe was caught with his pants down and that’s all the news channels reported, oh and some minor earthquake/flood in Bangladesh and parts of India that killed and displaced 100,s of thousands if not millions and was covered extensively in most other country’s got a small mention at the end of a late night bulletin.

Speaks volumes about American culture.

I don't think it's the money she needs it's the attention. Having the media courting her for the prison story is the reward she may be seeking. Mind you it would only be the gossip magazine type media but they are the only media she knows.
I think a more interesting story may be found if a journalist researched as to why the Sherriffs dept. agreed to changing the prison time to "house arrest' 3 days into her prison term.
It must be the depressing weather in Sydney combined with the local market being closed and remaining so for another 2 days that make Ms Hiltons life worth discussing.

Exactly. There must be an awful lot of people with incredibly empty lives out there for them to be watching / reading this celebrity rubbish.

20 years ago there was a reasonable standard of genuine news reporting in the papers. Even commercial TV managed to report real news that actually mattered where as what we get now is very much lower standard and "dumbed down".

Oh for the days when a news "filler" was some film of a new road being built, factory installing some new equipment or a university research project. It may not have really mattered to most but at least it was more interesting than this celebrity rubbish. And of course such things were only shown when there really wasn't any proper news worth reporting - not so now unforunately.

Paris's fame is an awful reflection on society today...but the fact that she was released ranks right up there with the rodney king and OJ trials...for a country that prides themselves on freedom and justice I think they get pretty confused sometimes

going to protest that one of my organizations is having a national convention with the headquarters at a Hilton Hotel. I am telling all my friends and acquaintances not to stay at Hilton Hotels. I am encouraging others to protest use of Hilton Hotels by any of their organizations. Why the $%^&*(O(*&^%$# help fund this Paris crature? She needs to be buried in the depths of the LA county jail system for a few weeks. Halle Berry did too when she committed that hit run crime a few years back. How many other such criminals can YOU name? Enough of this Hollywood crap! My family disowned a member of it when they went off to Hollywood and became a star back in the 30s. Time to recognize these low-lifers for what they are - just bums that good honest people would not associate with!
