Hi folks .
Having a, um , disagreement at the moment with the girlfriend about the way I am sleeping at night. She has read and is of the opinion that because I do not face her while I am sleeping, that deep down I am not in love with her. I have told her that this is c**p but she still remains staunch.

I like to have clear air infront of me when I sleep so therefore generally sleep facing the outside of the bed.

This is a bit of a strange ol post but would like some feedback.

Cheers

Sounds like her insistence that not facing her when sleeping hides some deeper meaning probably has more to do with her own insecurities than anything else.

You definately don't love her Martin! Move on :)

I agree with the doctor. Insecurities about something else perhaps. You should send her to a shrink. Troubled girl.

lol, you've got to love women and their ability to over analyse things :banghead:. I'm not really sure how not facing her while sleeping says that you don't love her:confused:, but more importantly I'm not really sure how you'll convince her otherwise. I just hope (for both your sakes) she doesn't sabotage the relationship because of some silly superstition or silly theory she read in some magazine.
FWIW, I also sleep facing away from my partner for much the same reasons and I can assure you I'm very much in love with her. Go luck with the problem I think you'll need it.

I can relate a bit to this....all my girlfriends always complain that i never cuddle them enough in bed. What happens is that i get too hot, and then I migrate to a cooler spot. Once they all realised that its a physical thing, they don't have a problem, as long i try to stand the heat long enough for them to get to sleep!:)

Men and women are physically made up differently, and need different things to each other. Once both understand that, everyone gets along allot better.

Cheers,

Get her to pick a favourite picture of herself. Blow it up to poster size. Post it up at your side of the bed. Problem solved. Cheaper than a shrink. :p:

Take it as a good thing man, she obviously loves you, otherwise she wouldn't be so scared of the thought of losing you (ie you not loving her anymore)

I think eveyone is on the money here. It seems like a pretty small thing, but it almost certainly points to some insecurities. I don't know about her being troubled though, to feel insecure at times is a pretty normal emotion.

So if the problem is insecurity, then what solves that? Re-assurance! Just let her know how it is. Its important you neither ridicule her nor make her feel the way she is feeling is out of the ordinary (because it aint). Perhaps the way it has manifested might seem a little over the top, but it won't seem that way to her.

If you talk to her and let her know
- That to feel insecure some times is fine, and that you feel that way sometimes too
- That she has nothing to worry about, you aint going anywhere.
Then I think you will find you will be able to face which ever way you please when you sleep.

Always address the problem and you will find the symptom will dissapear

my :2twocents

And the girl don't need a shrink, just some attention and reassurance.

To come and think about it Martin what's so bad facing her when you sleep? Placing your hands strategically can lead to fondling and then take it from there ;) :D otherwise just treat her as your warmest and largest booster pillow. You just can't lose facing her while sleeping.

Add to all that these chilly winter nights and I'll gladly hug her to sleep anytime. One of the best feelings I ever will have IMO :D

I can't sleep facing Mrs frink either Martin. Where did your girlfriend read this? I'd like to know so I can try my very best to not let Mrs frink read it:eek:

or paint a face on a pillow on your other side - try pretending you're sleeping with both the missus and the mother in law - see which one you face then. ;)

oops I forgot, you're not married, and won't understand what I'm talking about lol.
(PS I jest , ;) I have a great inlaws / outlaws whatever. - I have to say that too, because they might read this I guess, lol)
PS , word of advice, when/if you get married, make sure you follow the lead on that cannibal who toasted his mother in law for the wedding breakfast. :2twocents - assuming she likes champagne that is ;) :

PS Maybe you could invent an excuse - if you sleep facing her, the sight of her drives you wild, and you can't get any sleep ? maybe that would work?

If you sleep facing her, your centre of gravity slowly moves forward, and you'd push her out of the bed?? lol

PS pretend to snore - see if she still gives a shinbone which way you're facing then lol

Tell her about Stanley Ho in HK - (think I'm right with that name) - had a three storey mansion in midlevels - plus garage - lift between them - three wives, one on each floor - came home each day, and went eeny meeny miny mo to decide which floor button to press ;) - my guess he didnt get any bludy sleep whatsoever lol.

As a friend of mine who read this thread just said to me... Ah, that I could have such a problem, sure it was only last week that I had a twosome for the first time in a long whiles... ;)

Sounds like an insecurity issue to me.

You should sleep in whatever position is best for you in terms of health - good sleep, posture etc. I'm not certain on this point, but I strongly doubt that sleeping on the same side every night would be a good thing to do anyway.

I really don't think it matters which way you sleep. If she still doesn't beleive you, just look straight into her eyes and say that you're madly in love with her. However, only say this should you really mean it. I tell my wife that I love her every day.
