Hi all. Just booked a 21 night trip to Thailand. Leaving Melbourne on the 20th May. Staying 16 nights in Koh Samui and 5 nights in Bangkok. While in Koh Samui we are going to the full moon party on the next island ( only a short ferry trip away ). I heard these parties are unreal. Anyone been to one of these parties??
Got a good deal. 16 nights in Koh Samui includes breakfast and 5 nights in Bangkok (no breakfast). Includes airfares, 4 and 5 star accomidation, all transfers from airport to hotel and vice versa, insurance and all depature taxes all for under $2500.00 per person.
What do you think got a good deal?
Anyway back to the full moon party topic. Any advice will be appreciated.
Thanks guys
P.S. Been to Thailand a few times but never to Koh Samui.

Koh Pang Gang is the island you are referring to I think. I have been to Koh Samui before and heard about these Full Moon parties. Used to be a bit of a hippie culture on that island and consequently I here it was pretty much drug fueled. I may be wrong. Watch out for the magic mushies on Samui. Usually on the menu in most restaurants as "no name".

Hey Kevro

Yeh i'm also going to Thailand but in July.
Im flying in to bangkok, then straight to Chang Mai, 5 nights. Then fly to phuket, 5 nights. Then bangkok 5 nights. Mine costs $2000 per person including breakfast everyday, all transfers, travel insurance and all flights.

I've also heard about the full moon parties and yeh like you said meant to be unreal.

Have a good trip!

Dave

Hi Dave, I'm not the one going unfortunately, Nevieboy is the lucky guy. My party days are over now. However my better half is Thai and with a 20 month old boy, well basically I have no chance .

Did however get back in Dec / Jan from Thailand after going to one of my many in laws weddings. Great country and fabtastic people. Hope to live up there in the near future.

Have a great trip and don't party to hard.

Kevro

The ferries get seriously overloaded, and it can be quite dangerous. One sanka few years back.

Think seriously about which ferry you get.

Life is not worth much over there - and safety standards are woeful.

Also be careful of drug dealers, best not to get even close - death penalty or life in a ****hole prison in Thailand.

Apart from that it should be awesome.

Hi Kevro.
Made some enquiries, the parties get about 10 to 15,000 party goers on the beach and clubs every month. New years eve are the big ones appox 30,000. Not many hippies at the parties these days, tourists come from all over the world so they can link their thai holiday inconjunction with these parties.
I heard about the magic mushies.Apparently some bars mix them in a milkshake and sell them as "special shakes". Yeah i'll keep away from them. I think i'll stick to my bottle of Jack Daniel's.

Yeah lucky i'm not gay.( but my boyfriend is). LOL

You might not be gay now but after a few drinks that bloke standing there who looks stunning with make up on, a sexy dress and high heals might convert you .

So many in Thailand they are concidered the third sex.
