Thought it would be interesting to see the provider/plan ASF members select.................reasons why as well.

For me the choice is limited, basically to Telstra  , CDMA or the new NextG. I'm on the NEXTG untimed cap 60 plan, with my handset being the PALM Trio 750 (quite a decent little unit).

My Plan is included below, reasonable IMO but considering its either NextG or no service..........Telstra has got me by the short and curly's

Telstra Business UNTIMED* Plans
25¢ UNTIMED* Plan

Plan Cost: $ 60.00 p/m

Voice calls to most landline numbers and Telstra mobile numbers in Australia per call 25¢ UNTIMED, (including no flagfall)

National voice calls to mobiles on the same account FREE & UNTIMED ( including no flagfall).

Voice calls to any non-Telstra mobile:
Connection Fee: 35c flagfall.
Call Rates
(/ MINUTE block or part thereof): 35c per minute

I'm on the Vodafone $49 cap thing where I get $280 worth of credit.

Its pretty good, I surf the net on my phone for 90c for every 5 minutes (out of the $280 credit).

Whatever the plan it never seems as cheap as what they tell you while they sign you up.
Currently on a optus 149 bizcap fleet access (whatever that means) which guarantees that if i go over the threshold i will be bashed around the wallet with extra call charges. I do spend a lot of time on the phone last month 654 calls(mostly business) for a total of 22hrs and 12 minutes and will be the first person to prove the microwave/ tumour on side of head theory!

Im on the vodafone $79cap ($500 worth of calls)

I was on a optus plan, same deal but they pissed me off so it was out of Voda and Tels, as I dont really like 3 personally. Optus did offer to give me a N73 to stay with them.

I chose Voda over Tels, basically cause the telstra cap doesn give me that much credit and also on Voda its easy to check usage. I go over my Cap alot :) - Reason, I use it for both personal and business (what most ppl do), Also I use my home phone once in a blue moon, ppl just tend to not pick up if they get a private no. calling

Pre Paid, 2 words I used to hate.

Optus pre paid, $40 gets $200 credit per month. Hardly ever use it all, come close though when the girlfriend "borrows" the phone.

Don't surf the net with it though.

Had a plan with telstra and boy are they $hit. Seem to spend half of what I used to with optus pre paid. recharge it at the servo and its easy to check my credit levels.

I'm gonna take a look at the "capped" plans and compare.

Pre paid virgin mobile BEAN COUNTER 10c text, 10c calls 25c flagfall expires 45 days from first call after top up, Best Prepaid ive had. You can go online and view the calls you made that day + History since i started over 4 months ago

Did I read that correctly? How did you get that with a prepaid?

Yes, you read correctly.

I guess it's just what optus does?

They also have a $30 plan which gets $120 credit.

Just go into a service station or a corner shop that sells credit and they'll fix you up, I'm in NSW so i don't know if other states have the same offer.
Though i've been on this pre paid "plan" for... maybe 2yrs.

You can call optus customer service form more info

I'm with you on that one Constable.........as well as the Brain tumor useage concerns :D .

I've tried out a few plans with Telstra in the past, the Capped Amount plans tend to sting you on per/block rates and hefty flagfalls. Dosen't take much to use the cap useage.

The 'untimed call' caps seem pretty reasonable IMO, Going over my past bills it offers significant savings. Telstra's customer service is going down the crapper fast though, automated voice recordings/long delays....... and bills that are so long winded/complicated if you have multiple services (sure they do that deliberately!).

just looking at my optus bill , i notice that the charges per call go to 3 decimal places (ie $2.818). Shows you the trouble and care they go to just to make sure you bill is exactly right. Im mean really, how considerate of them to do that.
Unexplainably while writing this, parasitic scabby leaches for some reason popped into my head...strange, now what was it we were talking about?

Optus Pre Paid, I think its the best deal around usless your a heavy user, even get some super cheap rate to 5 preselected numbers which is about all i usually call from it.

Same as Realist - $49 prepaid.

Never get shocked with a massive monthly bill.

Once I go over my limit I just recharge.

I use my phone heaps (inc O.S and interstate) and never pay more than $49 a month.

I only use Telstra because they've got the best coverage.

NextG is great for Data, I've clocked NextG run faster than a lot of peoples ADSL...

Thats the turbocharged deal, i use to use that one till i switched to virgin but i think they turbo charge the call rates as well:banghead:

LOL Optus is (in)famous for doing that, with bad customer service to boot, long story though, maybe next time

Though i've been on this pre paid "plan" for... maybe 2yrs.

I've been living in a cave when it comes to prepaid phones...happens when you get comfortable with your current mobile provider

Am using 3 btw, love the free 10 min calls to other 3 users :D

I have a Vodafone "no plan", i only pay for calls i make.

Think vodafone may not offer it anymore, in fact they may be trying to get all those on it to change, costs them money if you are a lght user like myself.

Often my bill is less than $5 a month.

I looked to change to another plan when i wanted a new phone, guy in the shop told me whatever you do stay on the no plans plan, buy a new phone thats locked to Vodafone instead as they are cheaper.

Thought it pretty decent of him, dont think his employer (Vodafone) would have been to pleased.

Good on ya Pager, so's my 3, am using it till migration or death :D
