Railpasses are often not the best way to buy rail tickets. They can be expensive compared to point to point.

Worth considering how much time you'll be spending travelling around before you go and buy a rail pass. In some countries, like Italy, point to point ticketing is way cheaper than a Eurail pass.
I always found Deutsche Bahn's website the best for getting schedules and pricing for any rail trips in Europe...
