Ok,

I'm going on a 3 day fishing charter with my old man and brother that's leaving out of Port Lincoln on Thursday.
I'm sure there are many on this board that do a decent bit of fishing/have experience with this sort of stuff. Personally, I haven't got a clue what i'm getting into.
Apparently we're going to try and catch bluefin tuna?
Should i be preparing for 3 days of beer drinking and watching water or do we actually stand a chance at pulling something in?
Any tips/advice/experiences would be much appreciated

Also if anyone knows where the good spots are.... 'hook' a brother up :D

plenny blufin from pt lincoln .....try port mcdonnell too ........

southern ocean fishing rocks ......... even the bread and butter fish taste sweeter .

will be watching this thread for sure :)

also, a friend of mine said if you catch a decent sized bluefin that they are worth a fair bit? i'm assuming this is only for massive catches though?
how big are these things meant to be?

Nah you will get a few.

They are there now(bit early this Year)

I'd be more worried about the Trough thats on its way.

Training requirements are...

Pool
Chair
Fishing rod
Car tyre

Procedure...

Sit on chair near edge of pool.
Tie car tyre to end of fishing line.
Throw tyre in at deep end of the pool.

When you can pull the tyre from the bottom and land it on the edge in one movement then you are ready.

PS. If you want to do it like the pro's then you need to be able to flick the tyre over your head and land it on the other side of the pool fence in one move (place wife and kids either side of you to make it realistic).

make sure you lightly grill some, first chance you get when you get back. super fresh tuna steaks taste better than anything that has gone through the fish markets.

Naturally we expect an update and photo's when you get back. The locals would probably apprecate GPS co-ordinates as well.

You can look at the department of primary industry sites - fishing , and get the gps coordinates for the fads.. fish attraction devices.. these are usually good to get fish at..

Times up, you should be back by now. How did you go and have you got any photo's?

yes am back.
busy all day today, will upload some photos tonight (6pm onwards)
we caught 2 bluefins, a gummy, 5-6 snapper, bout 8kgs of crays, an uncountable amount of couta's :)mad:) and no whiting (even though we spent a good 6 hours in a number of well known whiting spots)
