Windows 7 on its way

There are no significant compatibility issues with Win7, alot of the manufacturers have developed the drivers for it unlike with vista where they refused to make the appropriate drivers.

I'm really a fan of the 16:9 wide screen monitors they are selling now, I prefer the 16:10 monitors, which are harder to find these days.
 
The wide screen monitors are really going to up size everything, think of all those web sites that need to grow, to be re-written to fill the screen...and all that extra space for advertising and new features etc.

I'm loving the Win7 wallpaper slide-show feature, and im finding that all my old photos look small now and have to be stretched to fill the screen...it seems obvious that everything will get bigger now to fill the new standard screen size.
 
It seems to have made more of a whimper in the market place then a great big tsunami of people rushing to get their hands on it? Great compatability with devices etc and really good plug and play dynamics. Great widescreen stuff and the tech geeks are not complaining so far? Great stuff Bill Gates, finally get it right nd no one wants what you are offering.
 
Been running 7 for a while now, Ultimate version. It's been great so far, but when I got it - a few of the drivers to my laptop were missing ... fortunately I tracked them down.

Only issue I was having was one with virtualization, but that's since been resolved.
 
I purchased a copy of Vista when it was released. After fighting it for less than a year I just went back to XP. I get the feeling that the newer operating systems are just pushing the aesthetic factors which are more or less redundant to me. What exactly can 7 DO which beats XP and warrants the cost of an upgrade? (I'm not a gamer)

I'm also a fan of the 16:10 monitor. I've got the 24" benq v2400w
 

Perhaps you should've have stuck with it.. after SP1, alot of the compatibility issues were solved.

What can you do with 7?

- Its faster than XP (noticeably) with boot time, shutdown time, opening apps....
- Faster data transfer rates
- Better networking features and network security - XP was built during a time where not many households had wireless routers in their home. Hence, wireless network security is not a strong point in XP. Win7 fixes this.
- Better data encryption and overall security than XP and Vista (without all the popups and warnings that came with Vista)

Looks like that video wasn't the only bad form of marketing the team came up with. The team from Burger King tried to join in on the Win7 hype..

I recently had a quick look at Win7 Pro but at the moment can’t see any reason to switch from XP Pro and have to reinstall all my programs again. My XP is rock stable and does everything I need, faultlessly. It hibernates at the touch of a key and takes only 20 secs to wake up again. Occasionally I reboot it, but most of the time I just use hibernation and it never misses a beat.

I got a bit tired of the standard XP theme with its bright colours so I recently installed the WinXP “Royale Theme” from:

Check out the screenshots. The smart soft blue curvy task bar and title bars makes it look like a new machine so if you’re happy with your XP but would just like to smarten it up a bit, it's well worth a try.
 

hmm.. we there Win 7 themes for XP if you just wanted the visual effects. But they do take up some system resources.
