PS Good luck for the trip. You'll love it there.I'm moving to the UK next Tuesday to live and work in London.
Wife runs a travel company.
I'm here to cook, clean and put out the garbage.
Actual, we have a cleaning lady so delete the cleaning and garbage. And we eat out every night, so delete cooking. Golly, what am I doing in Peru?

If I could get a high falutin job in the city, I'd go to London in an instant.
Investing your wife's earnings by the looks of it
No, just losing it at the moment....
The beauty of living here is that we are going on a short flight to Columbia for Christmas and New Year.
Then to Ecuador for Jan (wife has office in Quito) and we do a Galapagos trip for free.....
There are other reasons, but that will do for now.
Cheers
What's the business wildkactus? Drug running? People smuggling? Fleuglebinding? Sweatshops? The only reason it left the land of oz was business.
I do more business in europe / usa then oz. the business conditions that Hong Kong has just makes it a great place to have my business based, close to the rest of the world, for me too.
if it wasn't for my business i would still be in oz as it's the best place around that i can see to live. (even thought there are a lot of really good places but none of them ever compare to home).
Jman, where were you from? I'm surprised at your comment that Kiwis are less friendly. Certainly not my experience but Im from Christchurch, and I did always notice when I was working in Auckland or Wellington that it was a much more dog eat dog environment.Bucking the trend slightly,
I moved TOO Australia from NZ ("oh not another one" i hear you all groan..), my circumstances were fairly straighforward, single, wanted a better climate, and greater earning potential. Have to say the 2nd and 3rd objectives have been fulfilled, although I'm still single! :
Making ends meet in NZ is tough, I worked for 3 years in a job paying NZ$29,000 p/a like a lot of people, but realised my chances of ever having my own house were remote.
I think the people in WA are generally friendlier than back home, and most people will give you a fair go if you can prove that you are reliable and a hard worker. The main thing I miss from home are the mountainsand the back country exploring (I guess you can certainly go bush here, but would face a very different set of challenges!).

I moved here just for the good weather. If global warming ever actually results in NZ getting warm enough to be comfortable I'd be back smartly.
The weather is the thing we are most worried about.
My partner is originally from Cairns and loves the tropics. She thinks it is cold here in Adelaide so i hate to think what she will be like in Europe!
She says i will have to buy her lots of expensive warm clothes...
