Where Is Daniel?

Like all debate on such matters,this one seems to be getting away from the most basic point.

Rule of law..due process and the faith in the justice system.

Naming a suspect in the media circumvents those rules.Some of the public only know what the media tell them they should...and they might be on a jury one day!..could they be impartial and rational..

Could we?

Don't let emotion rule your reasoning powers..we all want the culprit isolated ...but the only way is to stick to RULE OF LAW

Rule of law..due process and the faith in the justice system. I don't have faith in the justice system,due process is that where the criminals have all the rights and the victims and victims family have none?

I don't think it's just the media. Haven't the police been quoted on this one on multiple occasions? And haven't the police set up mockup situation at the situation where Daniel disappeared?
Why haven't they done this for other children, or adults for that matter?
In so many other cases when police are asked for a comment about various matters, they have simply reponded with a "no comment". They have been very voluble indeed on this matter over now several years.

Ah Boyou, thank goodness for some sanity on this. I can't believe the conclusions which have now on this thread determined the guilty person, just because the media have once again chosen to publish some suggestion as to the possible perpetrator. So many of you have already hung this bloke. He may be guilty. But he may not. Until he has actually been charged and has appeared in court to answer the charges, wouldn't it be reasonable to withhold judgement?

Again, on behalf of all the families who have undergone just as much distress as the Morecambes because of missing family members, maybe just back off a bit on some of the hysteria.

Julia..good to read your reasonable contribution

I wonder if you are as concerned as me about the power of the media these days?

Whenever I talk with people today about their views on (almost) any topic,I try to also find out what informs those views.If it is "Current Affairs" ..courtesy of Channel Nine and Seven,I tend to mark their opinions as suspect.

I long ago realised they were not purveying honest, investigative journalism ,but merely delivering gullible audiences to voracious advertisers ..money drives their ambitions ,not truth

i can really understand what you mean, but surely also, the other families may feel vindicated that there is one less peodophile on the streets once this person gets caught, and he most probably will. Perhaps also, this level of publicity is good because it will teach other parents the dangers of allowing their children to walk alone in their early teens, and when they think it is safe.

Under normal circumstances, i would agree. But, this person is a multiple offender, so it would be pretty hard for people to control their convictions...

Agree. I had someone tell me yesterday that you can now be tested to discover whether you will ever have schizophrenia, dementia or pretty much any medical or psychiatric condition. When I asked the source of this amazing revelation, it was "60 Minutes". Suggested to the person that when we hear about it from a source other than crappy tabloid television, we might get excited (if indeed one wanted to know.)

That's reasonable. But couldn't the same level of public co-operation and interest have been provoked by talking about various other missing children?
Many people would think Daniel is the only person to have gone missing.

While you're all being so reasonable about this , try being reasonable while imagining what that kid went through.

Ohhh sorry plenty of other kids get murdered so why is everyone so upset about this particular one????? My goodness it's only one of many that get murdered by sexual predators after all.:screwy:

Because "all other missing children" are not considered murdered recently in fairly obvious circumstances.
