Hi,

Can someone please tell me how you can find out when a company report is coming out?

People always talk about buying in before the report is released.

Would just like to know if it's inside information or public information..

Thanks

When a listed company reports at year end and half year is governed by deadlines set by the exchange and ASIC. Larger companies tend to report on the same date each year often well before the deadline.

Most of the smaller companies (particularly explorers) tend to be not so well organised and have a lot of adjustments put through at the last minute so they tend to report as late as possible.

Have a look at this calander, which is a great help in determining when to expect company reports.

Note specifically the difference between explorers and non-explorers - this concerns most traders/investors on this board. The difference comes about because explorers are required to report within 75 days of year end and non-explorers are required to to report within 3 months. The difference between days and months catches people out all the time; often the deadline falls mid week.

Motion,

The report(s) are very much public, that is why the ASX imposes such strict rules, that companies must report at various times to its shareholders; you and me.

Companies can choose when their year ends, but a good proportion of ASX companies have a 30 June year end thus they must report within 60 days of that date as to it's preliminary results for the year just gone.

a good source of upcoming events can be found at:

which is updated very regularly.

For mining entites note 5.1 and 5.1.1 and 5.1.2, thus you normally get a huge amount of mining companies reporting on the last days of Jan, April, July and Oct.

Cheers
