Well, we had an accident in our house tonight.

Mrs. Sam76 almost cut her finger off whilst cutting an avacado for a salad.

Blood everywhere.

I had a quick look and instantly recognised that this required a visit to the emergency ward at hospital. The poor old missus is not used to seeing what's under her skin or any of the red stuff that keeps her going - hence a lot of panic ensued.

Anyway, long story short, she's ok no nerve damage, but she's nursing 3 stitches in her pointing finger tonight.

So what's everyone's worst injury?

My motorbike fell on me when I was doing doughnuts in shorts as a child.

The bike was a bit too heavy for me at the time and the exhaust burnt a nice hole into my hamstring.

1 skin graft later and I was ok.

Anyone else?

The gorier the better I reckon, and if you have any, put up some photos.

Nothing looks tougher to the chicks then some war wounds!
 
Hmmmm,

Bike accident - skimmed quite a bit of flesh off my knee caps, no other major damages there; had all protective gear, but was clever enough to wear shorts!
Total knee dislocation (leg was bent in the opposite way) - some war wound, happened when I slipped in the spa : The marble was slippery!

Majorly burned hands - kitchen accident.
Majorly burned fingers, self inflicted

My knees are still scarred - makes for a good story; happened during a jewel heist, you see (Obviously not!)

There have been many more, but - I'm too tired to recall :

If you want to get into emotional injury though, heck - I'm in a wheelchair! (Metaphorically, of course!)
 
good to see youve got time to sit online and post afterwards lol.

car crash - t-boned by a red light runner doing about 60-70 kmh, hit my driver door, literally locked me in the car.....legs stuck under the dash, belt release jammed under the centre console, jaws of life needed etc.

escaped relatively unscathed - 6 broken ribs and a sore shoulder.

the worst aspect was 7 days in footscray hospital - a death trap.
 
l laugh, then realise that like me you live in melbourne, and needing a fire this time of year is serious stuff.............get out there in the dark and chop woman !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
Slammed sideways into a wall on a motorcycle at 90-100 km's per hour. Amazingly not a single broken bone but my footrest skewered my calf muscle and left a nice hole.

All ok now, but the wall still has the marks
 
Decided to do a swallow dive off a telephone pole-No i wasnt climbing it for fun but used to work for the equivalent of Telstra in the UK!This particular job i had already decided it was my last for the day so left my mobile in the van about 10 metres away.AAfter i fell off from about 20feet with my left leg taking full impact I hopedthat i had sprained my ankle!!!!!!!!Stood up to walk to van and my foot turned 90 degrees sideways:eekLay down again and thought i would give it another go and it did the same:I was stuck in the woods(bush to you Aussies)where i was working with not a soul about.Shouted myself hoarse until some blokes working nearby came to my rescue.Unfortunately the place i was working was a dirt track(and very bumpy)ride to hospital was terrible.Spent 2 weeks in hospital and nearly lost my leg at one stage.Worts bit was trying to p*ss in the bedpan in bed and the daily injections into my stomache to stop blood clotting.Was off work for a year and had one of thos external frames fitted-the looks i used to get off kids etcWent back to same job and have been scared of heights since HOWEVER time off led me to reflect on life etc and watched a programme called A Place In The Sun so casually mentioned to my wife,How do you fancy emigrating?She had always wanted to come to Oz so i set up an application for her with a job agency(shes a nurse)and within a week or so she had a job and the rest is history.My advice to anyone in the same position is if you want to emigrate take the conventional route
 
Hmmm... 5-6 years of terrible shoulder injuries left me with having to have the top of my scapula removed because of the pressure it was placing on my chest wall. Was chipping my ribs, and giving me permanent pleurisy because of the pressure and swelling it was developing on the back of the lungs.

Probably the worst visual injury was after being brought down off a bike, by a car going through a stop sign. Lost most of the fad pads of one of my hands (could see my thumb tendon) as well as giving myself a compound dislocation of the little finger on that hand. I cringe everytime I see someone not wearing gloves while riding now...

Other than that, I don't have a PCL, but I'm not exactly sure how that happened.

I think the bro could trump this thread, we shall wait and see. Lol!
 
When I was in kindergarten some kid throw a big rock and hit the back of my head. I got knocked out instantly, and was bleeding 'profusely'. My mom got called to the kindergarten immediately and told me (when I was a bit older) that she was shocked to see me chasing other kids with a huge bandage on my head. :
 
.. had a sporting injury once, ran into a crotch-high post in the outfield playing baseball, needed stitches in it - anyway the doctor says "just gonna give it an injection"
I said "you cant!"
... he says , ''ahh nonsense - it's only a little prick" (thought he was soooo funny)... used to tell everyone I had 12 stitches a couple of inches apart
 
On a motorbike had a head on with a Nissan Nirvara @ 90km/h.
Smashed right femur, broken left tib and fib, crushed left knee and severed tendons. 2 broken ribs, one punctured lung, one lung collapsed. The pulmonary embolism (blood clot) in lung is what really gave me trouble.
 
cripes !! Aargh!!!
you ( and many here) realise of course that if you were a horse you'd be shot

theres a couple of bum-healers in this thread :

When I was about 9 years old, the neighbors dog would always pinch our cats dinner, so one night I saw the little bugger having his fill and sprinted after him down the yard, I was soon reminded about the barbed wire they had just put up

I just missed an artery in my right arm, nearly lost my left eye (was about 5mm off) and had cuts across my legs and chest

Still, 2 wheels are safer than 4 when it comes to bikes and bushtrails at least
A friend had one of these things roll on him, - the exhaust burnt a nice chunk out of his calf before they got him out from under.
