For years, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice kept meticulous records regarding the 'last meals' ordered by inmates about to be put to death. They ceased publishing the details on the internet in 2003, however, they can still be viewed by using webarchive.org: http://web.archive.org/web/20031202214318/http://www.tdcj.state.tx.us/stat/finalmeals.htm
It's a fascinating list in many ways and while going through it, I wondered if I were ever in that situation, what meal would I choose?
After some thought I decided that my last meal would be a rich Beef Stroganoff, served with creamy potato bake and a few freshly baked bread rolls on the side. Dessert would be a freshly prepared sticky date pudding with butterscotch sauce.
In this scenario we can choose an alcoholic beverage (just one, unlike real inmates who get none) to accompany our meal. In this case, my beef stroganoff would be accompanied by a (large) glass of Penfolds Bin 28 Kalimna Shiraz.
Anyone else like to propose their 'final meal'?
