What makes a stock?

Hi guys,
I've been very keen in reading this forum and all the tips that come out from you's experts out there.
Im just interested to see how you guys evaluate and research stocks. Where do you find the source of information from. And what makes a stock a good stock?

Hi Lucstar

I am a short term optiontrader so predictability is at the forefront of my stock selection.
I thoroughly check the downside and make sure that the drawdowns are likely to be infrequent, small and manageable when the stock does not behave as expected and I am wrong. I make sure I know the quarterly, monthly, and weekly range of that stock from small, average to excessive and where that stock is currently trading. I make sure I know when it is due for a profit report and when it is due to go exdividend. I also know overall the best time of the day to buy it and sell it and what percentage of profit I can realistically expect in a very short time frame. Of course I do all this by studying charts in all the relevant time frames. Actually you might like to check out some of my previous posts. Good luck with your trading.

Kevin,

There is no such thing as a good stock. They will all destroy you if given the chance!

I look at the fundamentals and trends. Go to 9msn's investor site and you can get information on most stocks.

I agree with your statement "they'll all destroy you if given the chance"
Good traders don't give stocks many chances, they get out of the way fast usually before the fundamental is common knowledge.
