What does Impairment mean?

Just another quick question for anyone who knows

I've been reading company reports and they use the word
"impairment" . What does it mean?

It's an accounting term. Simply speaking, an asset is impaired when the value its recorded at on the company's books is greater than its recoverable (market) value.
