mate, unless you are loaded, i would just pick a pub that has a function room that is convienent to all put some cash down on the bar and have some finger food going around.

Yes, I agree with sam, thats a good idea...
I got engaged when I was 20, it was a big do, hired out the bowls club or something, can't remember now, but she made me wear PINK pants with a white shirt to match her dress (I looked prettier than her
), then all the freeloaders rocked up, you know, the cousins and boyfreinds, aunts and uncles, and all these people I didn't know, and that's just my side of the family. Then, they proceeded to demolish the buffet, steal the cuttlery, and attempt to drink the joint dry!
Anyway, a good night had by all, Nana fell over dancing of course, people falling off the chairs, and I got smashed and tounge pashed my cousin!
Don't know what happened to the bride, think she was there somewhere.
Don't know why we didn't get married, we would have made such a lovely couple!

got laid - quite a lot until the engagement broke
then got engaged again and same again
three times, then married, no idea why
times are different now - don't often hear of people's engagement parties - haven't been to one in thirty years or thereabouts

On one Knee (armed with Bribery in the form of Sapphires and Diamonds) at the Banks of a river at which I used to Trout fish a decade earlier.
Then into the car for a three hour drive to the Cruiseship I was contracting to, Big hoohaa in the Crew Bar, woke up the next day with a hang over somewhere in the South Pacific.

We 'officially' asked each other while diving off the coast of Mexico near Cozumel. Hard to do while 30m underwater.
