Appeared at the Closing Ceremony of the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, as part of a performance showcasing Indian culture, on behalf of the 2010 Commonwealth Games, to be held in New Delhi. For her three-minute dance performance, Rai was reportedly paid three crore rupees, the equivalent of about 600,000 U.S. dollars.[5]
When the IIFA awards took place in Amsterdam, Aishwarya had a breed of tulip named after her.[6]
In 2000, Aishwarya Rai, Miss World 1994 from India, was named the Most Beautiful Miss World of All Time [6]
She is the target of an obscenity case filed by a lawyer offended by her on screen kiss in the recently released hit, Dhoom 2. [7]
A Public Interest Litigation alleging the promotion of untouchability was filed against Aishwarya for marrying trees in order to correct astrological differences with her fiancée, Abhishek Bachchan. [7]
Don't leave me in all this pain
Don't leave me out in the rain
Come back and bring back my smile
Come and take these tears away
I need your arms to hold me now
The nights are so unkind
Bring back those nights when I held you beside me
1- Un-break my heart
Say you'll love me again
Un-do this hurt you caused
When you walked out the door
And walked outta my life
Un-cry these tears
I cried so many nights
Un-break my heart, my heart
Take back that sad word good-bye
Bring back the joy to my life
Don't leave me here with these tears
Come and kiss this pain away
I can't forget the day you left
Time is so unkind
And life is so cruel without you here beside me
(repeat 1)
Ohh, oh
Don't leave me in all this pain
Don't leave me out in the rain
Bring back the nights when I held you beside me
(rpt 1)
Un-break my
Un-break my heart, oh baby
Come back and say you love me
Un-break my heart
Sweet darlin'
Without you I just can't go on
Can't go on
http://www.songfacts.com/detail.php?id=675http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/They're_Coming_to_Take_Me_Away "They're Coming To Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa!" is a 1966 novelty song by Napoleon XIV (aka Jerry Samuels), re-issued by Warner Bros. Records in 1973. Initially it was controversial enough to get the record banned in several markets.
The song, mostly set to a rhythm tapped out on a snare drum, deals with mental illness, seemingly brought about by the singer's lover:
Remember when you ran away
And I got on my knees
And begged you not to leave because I'd go berserk?
Well, you left me anyhow
And then the days got worse and worse
And now you see I've gone completely out of my mind!
However, later lyrics make it appear that the trigger for the singer's mental illness is not his lover, but rather his dog:
Well, you just wait
They ´ll get you yet
And when they do
They ´ll put you in the ASPCA, you mangy mutt!
However, this could be an insulting term to the lover, in much the same way as the term bitch is used as abuse.
Musically, "They're Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa!" could be called a very early rap record. The singer speaks rhythmically rather than singing the lyric, over a spare, multitracked percussion track dominated by drum kit and tambourines with a siren sounding in and out of the "chorus". According to Samuels, the vocal glissando, signifying the vocalist's plunge into insanity, was achieved by Samuels manipulating tape recording speeds, a variation on the technique used by Ross Bagdasarian in creating the original Chipmunks novelty hits. Supposedly the song's thumping beat derives from or was inspired by the Scottish marching song "The Campbells Are Coming".[1]
Furthering the theme of insanity, the flip or B-side of the single was called "!Aaah-aH yawA eM ekaT oT gnimoC er'yehT" and the singer billed as "VIX noelopaN". It was the A-side played in reverse; in fact, most of the label affixed to that B-side was printed backward, including the letters in the "WB" shield logo. This is the first known instance of backmasking in popular music.[2] Only the label name, disclaimer, and record & song master numbers were kept frontward. The backwards version does not appear on the original Warner Bros. album, although the title is shown on the front cover.
Napoleon is Jerry Samuels, a recording engineer from New York. When this became a hit, the record company sent other people to perform it at live appearances.
Samuels: "It took me 9 months to finish it. I wrote one verse and the chorus, and immediately I realized I was writing a sick joke. So I said, 'This is no good, I'll put it away.' Three months later it was still running through my head; I pulled it out again and wrote the second verse and it was an even sicker joke. Finally about 6 months after that I decided I was going to finish it, and I was going to do something in that last verse that would throw things off a little bit, so I referred to the object - 'They're coming to take me away because of what YOU did - I referred to YOU as a dog. The dog ran away. By doing that I felt I was lightening the sickness of the joke, and I probably was and it probably did some good for me, but that was the reason I went for that afterthought."

Through the decades, along with Judith's immense popularity and success as one of the all-time great lead singers of one of the world's most popular groups, she has always enjoyed the musical freedom of solo work culminating in the release of her recent ninth solo album 'Hold On To Your Dream'. This is a powerful and varied milestone collection showcasing her exceptional talent as a composer and lyricist of inspirational and philosophical songs and features her glorious anthem for the nation "Australia Land of Today"; her popular 50s doo-wop song "Coulda Woulda Shoulda" (the surprise bonus track on the official 'ROVE [LIVE]' CD); 'It's Hard To Leave' which brings solace in palliative care and comfort to bereaved families and was internationally recognised in a paper at the 10th World Congress of Music Therapy in Oxford UK in July 2002; and the album's title track 'Hold On To Your Dream' which has been invoked by fans in achieving previously unattainable goals.
It's Hard To Leave
Words and Music by Judith Durham
In 1971 I had just said tearful goodbyes to my sister and her family and my parents in Melbourne. This song (and "When Starlight Fades") were written in the hotel bathroom during the next night, after arriving in London.
It's hard to leave you all behind
Those loving smiles so sweet and kind
I love you all, you're part of me
With you I leave the heart of me
It's hard to go, but now's the time
With loving arms I intertwine
There will be times I miss you so
It's hard to leave, but I must go
I won't look back along the way
It only makes me want to stay
With every step I'm sure I'll find
A different loved one on my mind
Without my friends here by my side
My destiny will be my guide
There will be times I miss you so
It's hard to leave, but I must go
It's hard to leave the ones you love
Though other stars may shine above
But I can hope within my song
That after all it won't be long
But it is now I feel the pain
I may not see you all again
There will be times I miss you so
It's hard to leave but I must go
We Must Teach Our Children
(from "The Chief Seattle Suite" song cycle)
Music by Judith Durham
Words by Judith Durham, from a television script by Ted Perry based on a short speech by Chief Seattle, 1854.
[listen now]
Song No. 4 of five songs based on the world famous speech attributed to American Indian Chief Seattle, which is, in fact, a script about the environment by American Ted Perry (commissioned for television by the Southern Baptist Church) which I rhymed and set to music around 1983. Ted based his script on a short speech by the great Chief. Royalties from the lyrics go to his tribe, c/- Suquamish Museum, P.O. Box 498, Suquamish, Washington, 98392, U.S.A.
We must teach our children
That man didn't weave life's web
For he's just one strand in it
So don't destroy the thread
We must teach our children
That the ground beneath their feet
Is the ashes of our fathers
Not something to defeat
We must teach our children
That the Earth is rich with lives
So they'll all respect their homeland
And that our Mother Earth survives
We must teach our children
That what befalls the Earth
Befalls the sons of everyone
In this land of their birth
In this land of their birth
We must teach our children
If they do harm to the land
They bring harm upon themselves
For the soil will turn to sand
We must teach our children
Earth does not belong to man
For man belongs to Earth
And that's the way this world was planned
We must teach our children
That all things do connect
And that we're one big family
All things we must protect
All things we must protect

ps Wayne - think I agree - either way, it's a shame she dies so early in the storyThe Pheasant Plucking Song
I'm not a pheasant plucker, I'm a pheasant plucker's son
I'm only plucking pheasants 'till the pheasant plucker comes.
Me husband is a keeper, he's a very busy man
I try to understand him and I help him all I can,
But sometimes in an evening I feel a trifle dim
All alone, I'm plucking pheasants, when I'd rather pluck with him.
I'm not a pheasant plucker, I'm a pheasant plucker's mate
I'm only plucking pheasants 'cos the pheasant plucker's late !
I'm not good at plucking pheasants, at pheasant plucking I get stuck
Though some pheasants find it pleasant I'd rather pluck a duck.
Oh plucking geese is gorgeous, I can pluck a goose with ease
But pheasant plucking's torture because they haven't any grease.
I'm not a pheasant plucker, he has gone out on the tiles
He only plucked one pheasant and I'm sitting here with piles !
You have to pluck them fresh, if it’s fresh they’re not unpleasant,
I knew a man in Dunstable who could pluck a frozen pheasant.
They say the village constable had pheasant plucking sessions
With the vicar on a Sunday ‘tween the first and second lessons.
I'm not a pheasant plucker, I'm a pheasant plucker's mum
I'm only plucking pheasants 'till the pheasant plucker's come.
My good friend Godfrey is most adept, he's really got the knack
He likes to have a pheasant plucked before he hits the sack.
I like to give a helping hand, I gather up the feathers,
It's really all our pheasant plucking keeps us pair together.
I'm not a pheasant plucker, I'm a pheasant plucker's friend
I'm only plucking pheasants as a means unto an end !
My husband's in the forest always banging with his gun
If he could hear me half the time I'm sure that he would run,
For there's fluff in all my crannies, there's feathers up my nose
And I'm itching in the kitchen from my head down to my toes.
I'm not a pheasant plucker, I'm a pheasant plucker's wife
And when we pluck together it's a pheasant plucking life !
