It appears that yesterday I've managed to buy some shares above my bid price.

I had a buy in at $0.14, and I've apparently bought them at 0.15. The share price didn't even reach .14...

Anyone had this happen before?

I'm left wondering what is going to happen now - after I contact comsec on Monday.

On looking further, although it's listed in my executed orders as having bought them, there's no contract and I don't seem to own the shares.

Very odd.

I had this happen to me too, with Westpac Online Investing it would sometimes buy shares from two sellers and average the price, but when i looked at my contract the correct price was there. Never had shares appear that i hadn't bought before.

I've noticed that commsec sometimes automatically adds your brokerage into the cost, at least on the "holdings" page and that sometimes rounds up what the buy price was - maybe that's why it's 0.15?

All brokers add in your brokerage cost to your average entry price located in your "holdings" section or "wrap" with belldirects trading platform. This is actually a great point of reference as it gives you a flat number of your entry so you don't get stung with brokerage.

I don't understand why some people still use the majour banks for trading - their brokerage charges are huge. I remember Westpac charging me $30 one way for each trade, at which point I shifted over to BellDirect which charge me $15 at max, $10 on platinum.

Westpac's $30 are history; with a Westpac CMA, $20 is the new $30.
I'm considering the complete offer, among others: How many trades can I bundle on one Contract Note? And if I trade positions above $20K, brokerage rates are usually 0.1%.

Nothing to do with brokerage in this case.
The stock didn't get down to my buy price. It's obviously some sort of comsec system issue.
