Too soon for this thread? I think not.
As is the way with politics these days, let us forget about the newly 'elected' PM, Ms Gillard, and see who is hovering over her like a buzzard.
Introducing Mr Wayne Swan, Lord help us this guy is only one accident or illness away from becoming PM (by default). YIKES!

Here's some generic info on him, whom it seems has managed to hang on in the face of every leadership change in the ALP since Beazley. But, what else do we know about the man who would be king?

My favourite part is when, upon visiting their old school, Mr Rudd described Swan in the following terms "Wayne was very, very cool; and I was very, very not".

Wayne Swan in questiontime after JG announced that he was deputy PM, sat there and nodded with a smirk on his face as smug as a bug in a rug.

Pride commeth before a fall as they say, in a similar way that our ex dear leader had to confront in his speech this afternoon in his prides aftermath.

It put Peter Costello`s smirks to shame.

At least Costello stood the test of time. It`s a hard ask for Wayno
 

Wyane (it's very important) Swan could not lie straight in bed.
Sick of hearing this parrot say "it's very important" every time he opens his mouth to tell some more lies.
 
Sigh; I have a bad day on the market and then some wiseguy has to create this thread and upset me more.

If he was PM instead of Gillard, people would be camping out overnight at election time just to say they were first to vote Liberal. (And I thought iPads and Grand Final tickets were popular.)

Me too, although most of my losses were Ex Dividends. Surely this thread was started in jest. He's not only an ugly sucker but he has now taken part in two back stabbings. Rudd kept him on because he owed him, even though he despised him.

If Labor is returned Gillard will replace him with someone she can trust, although I doubt if that person exists in the Labor party.
 
Us Queenslanders stick together and I would have thought two Nambour boys would have been able to rally the majority onto their side before this deposition. So it does appear Swan doesn't have too many friends to help him move beyond his present role. Warming the seat if anything.

It's a great pity Lindsay Tanner has been sufficiently disgusted by the events to resign (saying he suddenly realised he needed to spend more time with his family is just b.s.) If he had become Deputy and Treasurer instead of Swan, there might have been some hope for Labor Party.
 
Bill Shorten will be the next Labor Leader mark my word !

Wayne Swan was interviewed by Madonna King on ABC radio the morning. Three things are obvious;

. Swan gave all the same replies (non answers) as Gillard to questions on the betrayal of Rudd.

. neither Swan nor Gillard ever raised the issue with Rudd that they were dissatisfied with his leadership, in fact they supported all his initiatives.

. they are adamant that they don't owe the Party machine power brokers any favours.
 
Yep, ditto on Radio National with Fran Kelly this morning for Swan and Gillard on the 7.30 Report last night. Nothing at all will change. As I think Tony Abbott said, "just the salesman has changed, the product is the same".
Unfortunately some voters will not be awake to this.

If I was on the Coalition advertising and marketing committee I'd be strongly recommending making an ad from Kevin's challenge speech late Wednesday night.

It is not Coalition spin (as Labor suggest) to imply that factional warlords and union bosses are in control of the Government - Rudd said it himself.

You can slice it and dice it anyway you want but Rudd was pushed out by Labor's right and the AWU. On the night the challenge was taking place Paul Howes from the AWU was being interviewed on Lateline and it made for very interesting viewing. The way the questions were being asked and from the way he was answering them - Paul Howes was very obviously aware of his role as "Kingmaker". Obviously no one likes blood on their hands and neither does Paul Howes.

Although - maybe I'm just being cynical. It could have just been a complete coincidence that on the very night of the leadership challenge, Paul Howes, the leader of Australia's largest Union body, appeared on national television confirming that they support Julia Gillard as Prime Minister.

HEY HEY! All this talk of leadership change and you guys are leaving out my man, Wayneker Swan?
He wears a suit, is .... errrr suave? ummmm ..... convincing? ahhhh.... statesmanlike? .... a tool? oh hang on that's bad not good but probably still a pre-requisite.
He has a winning smile? Ah crap, not with those teeth.
Been 'side by side' (as he keeps saying) with 2 leaders who have buried themselves with unpopular policy.
He wears glasses, so he's intelligent right? Could mean he can't see the woods for the trees.
Thinks the louder he yells, the more believable he becomes.
Couldn't count his fingers and toes let alone balance the budget.

All in all, he couldn't do a worse job than Kev and Jules could he?
 

You ARE safely back in a mental institution, right???

 

I heard from good authority Rudd wanted to sack Swan, but Sawnnie had to much dirt on Rudd in the Queensland Goss Government. That is why he still where he is.
