Does anyone use voice recording software on their PC? I want to install it to take voice notes on, making speedy notes via typing or writing is cumbersome/disrupting so I have decided to decisively move into the 20th century :))) and voice record them instead (voice to text will be the next step).

I want a simple voice recorder. I have Googled it and Audacity seems to be the obvious choice; anyone use it and have comments, or use any other free recording program? What sort of system resources do these things use, what sort of space to voice recording files take up etc.? Etc., etc.... Thanks.

Well, there ya go ....
Thanks for that nun, wasn't even aware it was there, will give it a go.

Timmy - something like Audacity is better for manipulating music esp. for home recordings. If you're a muso who wanst something for capturing thoughts for songs then it's good.

Also works to tidy up music taken from LP s.
