Never boring, always himself. Eccentric as we probably all are before social conditioning grinds us down. Would listen to him late at night on (shudder) ABC when radio was a thing before most had personal computers let alone smart phones. He was shunted to late night because he wasn't PC probably.

He was very good and, of course, probably doing late-night news where he’d go off script and make funny and acerbic remarks about the people, and that had never been done before,” Ford said.
“I mean, Graham Kennedy did it later on Nine, but even today, we don’t really have people doing that, and that gave him like this incredible cult following.”

We remember Clive back in the mid 70's here in Perth on ABC radio.
He had a stint on Sunday afternoons for 3-4 hours I think, then at Ch 7, TVW 7 again here in Perth.
Then he disappeared for a while and then came back on the TV from the East Coast with his late night news broadcast.
It became a contest between Clive and Graham Kennedy for sometime.
One memorable night when I was watching Clive as he mulled over the" news ' he suddenly blurted out "not much newsworthy content here, you lot might as well switch off and listen to the radio.
RIP Clive

I saw him a bit on TV and heard him on radio.

A refreshingly unorthodox and un PC thinker and commentator, I missed him a lot when he retired/left/or got sacked.

People like him are too unconventional in these days when we have to pay homage to people for doing very little apart from belonging to a minority group.

RIP Clive.
