The US legal system is weird compared to our own.
Partisan judges are the norm, on both sides.
Judge Chuang was appointed by Barak Obama.
Firstly, the plaintiffs in the case are anonymous, so we cannot determine whether they even have standing in the court.
The Judge who ordered that the defendants reinstate all US aid employees seems to be unaware of or has ignored the fact that the two defendants in the case, Musk and DOGE, have no authority over USAID.
They did not do the firing, it was Marco Rubio who in his role as Secretary of state, is acting administrator of USAID.
Neither Rubio nor Trump were listed as one of the plaintiffs.
So even if Musk and DOGE were inclined to obey the orders of the Judge, they have no authority to do so.
If the judge really wants these people reinstated, he will need to refile with Rubio and perhaps Trump as the defendant.
As a further confusion, the Judge said that the defendants "probably" dismantled USAID illegally.
It has not been dismantlrd, it has been shifted directly into the State Department, still under the stewardship of Rubio.
