Anyone here had any experience with Trading Blox software, and if so can you elaborate on your experiences.

Re: TradingBlox software

Firstly, Its not cheap, about US$3000 for the builder version which allows you to design your own systems, there are other versions available that are much cheaper but they come with built in systems that you can change but if you want to design your own then you need the builder

IMO, its the best software available for back testing and in a league of its own, its also used by a lot of professional traders particularly commodities futures traders so its very much used by people who trade for a living, its fantastic IMO particularly for portfolio testing, you do need to have some understanding of programming but if you have an idea you can program just about anything in TB, it is easier to understand and program than say Amibroker, but Amibroker is a fraction of the price and depending on what you want to do and your programming skills Amibroker will also do the job, that said i would have TB rather than Amibroker any day, its like comparing a Toyota Camry with a Ferrari............

Visits there website, you can download the user manual and view some online videos about blox plus they have a forum which you can access.

I've been using AB for a few years now, but I'm no programmer. Been considering this software for a couple of years, every now and then I revisit the site and start thinking ............................

Do you actually use the software, or anyone else................

Yes I use it and as I said in my first post IMO, its the best software out there by a mile particularly for futures which is what I trade, im sure they do a 2 week trial ?, give it ago but if your a serious trader then I bet after the trial you will buy.

I found it very easy to get to grips with and believe me im no expert when it comes to programming, first though download and read the user manual.

If you have any specific questions as to what it can do then shoot, if I went into what it is capable of (and that’s only what I have found and used) and how easy those capabilities are to implement I would need a good few hours typing.

Re: TradingBlox software

TradingBlox state that they now have a backtesting capability for intraday? Curious to know if you have backtested intraday systems, and if so what markets have you tested on, type of systems, backtesting results etc? I have a preference for index futures such as SPI, and this is what I would be backtesting on.

I use TB with CSI end of day data so cant really comment using intra day but would imagine as long as the data is good then theres no reason why the results wouldnt be accurate.

With types of systems you can pretty much do anything with TB (programming ability permitting), I trade End of Day systems on Index futures and a medium term breakout system on a basket of commodities markets, TB simply takes care of everything once ive downloaded data, it generates all entry and stop levels, position size, moves stops, alerts when a contract needs rolling if im in a trade all with the single click of my mouse.

Hey nielsand & Pager

digging up the past, hopefully your both retired & are keen to share your sucsess!

wondering if you woudn't mind sharing your experience if you purchased TB and give an update on the platform,
I'm not a programmer but savy at mosy things, I'm a slow learner but a good learner wondering if either of you would mind sharing a bit of one one one time about TB,

SGG (hardly!)

Re: TradingBlox software - recent customer experiences?

Hi - anybody have recent experience as a customer of Trading Blox?

Is it still actively supported by the developer - is he active in the support forum?

Is there new functionality / upgrades (e.g. Windows 10 x64 support) being released on a routine basis?

Is the user community (i.e. the walled-off portion of the forum) still active?

The product still seems to be supported but the website is a bit stale/sketchy and almost nothing relating to the product has appeared anywhere on the web as far as I know since around 2009, so just curious as to its status, particularly now that Mechanica seems to be stale, or perhaps abandonware? Heard somewhere that the developer/maintainer Bob Spear is dead, though I notice that he's still selling his product online ("New Feature in Version 3.2011! Full Windows 7 compatibility"). lol.

Cheers,
JD
