Townsviille beauty queen Rachael Finch has been advised to lose her "Queensland accent"

What exactly is a "Queensland accent" ?
My observations are the further north you go, the speech is slower paced and more nasal in tone.
(I know of one case where a PA, who was originally from Rockhampton, took speech lessons so Americans could understand her on the phone.)
