Under the PATRIOT Act, The US president has the power to take executive control and cancel elections in the event of an "emergency".

Tin Foil hatters reckon this might happen before November.

Franklyn Roosevelt served as President from 4/3/1933 to 12/4/1945. So who knows, George W could be around a lot longer. Would be a good President in an all out war situation!

Bush does not seem to want presidency anymore. If someone has ambition then it is a separate question. I guess he just want to relax on his ranch for the rest of his life.

it really is amusing what some of the nutter conspiracy theorists out there dream up.

i wonder what these guys will do when their favorite arch villain is no longer around.. im guessing this is why theyve dreamed up this latest theory, because deep down they wish it were true.

sadly i see this as just another dream and evil george bush will do nothing of the sort.

It's a popcorn discussion, it's supposed to be amusing.

...but the power under the PATRIOT Act is nevertheless in place... and a lot of the the stuff that has happened this month was "impossible". So who knows?

Well, if he finds the democrat demands for the bail out package too hard to digest and nothing of substance eventuates it'll certainly be the mother of all emergencies come election time.

But... if he cancels the election... will Sarah Pallin's jaw hitting the floor in dissapointment rock the US even more.
