Thorpedo Quits

"Australia's greatest Olympian Ian Thorpe has announced his retirement from competitive swimming."

Of his decision, Thorpe said: "It's emotional because I see my entire swimming career flash before my eyes.

"I've had a great career. It isn't the best time to be walking away from the sport but it's my time.''

It will be sad to see this guy go... but it let in the new batch... I wonder who the new up and comers are?

Do you guys remember Michael Klim? Whatever happened to that guy?

Good on him. Doing what he wants not what some others expect him to do!
I think what some people dont quite get is how hard these guys train... I mean sure we all know how they get up early everyday and swim blah blah. but these guys and girls have usually been doing it from a very young age, way before the public get to know them through the media etc. Alot dont even make it as they simply burn out at a young age.

Anyway Im sure this wont be the last we see of him...
good on you Thorp, Australia's proud of you.
