As the situation in Alice is in the news lately, can anyone explain how this Voice would have affected that.
Not if you're a woulda coulda woulda Shoulda type of left wing fool operating in hindsight. Real time is different and they will be no less out of touch.Coalition government let the drinking laws run out (Dutton was in cabinet when it happen) A Voice could have advised from the front line what the effects would be.
Geezas not hard is it?
It's how everything works on a federal level. How would you know there is no detail boom boom.
I wonder if we would be having this discussion, if the French, Spanish or Dutch had colonised Australia?
As happened in South America, Philippines (Spain)
Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos (France)
Indonesia (Dutch)
Absolutely and yet we are being held responsible for colonising 250 years ago, by people who due to immigration have no direct link to most Australians today and those who did colonise installed a welfare system that includes the indigenous people. If the Japanese invaded Aus during WW2 and there was no European settlement to defend it, there would be no Aborigines left today.
OK a couple of fun facts
Grog bans return: what is going on in Alice Springs and how did we get here?
There are 16 ICU beds at Alice Springs hospital, and 14 of them were occupied by Aboriginal women who had been attacked.
Frequently, 100% of all kids in NT jails are Aboriginal kids.

Locals say the rise in social unrest and violence is the result of years of punitive policies and neglect in housing, health and welfarewww.theguardian.com
That's why I think that "The Voice" should be talking to their own people first and urging them to stop getting drunk, stop committing crimes and stop the domestic violence and child neglect.
They can't keep blaming others, no one is forcing them to drink or beat up their partners. If they can afford to drink grog all day they can afford to feed their families.
How is domestic violence a result of neglect ?
Am I being too harsh ?
Problem solved then?
By no means.
At the moment , one group seems to be expecting another group to do all the heavy lifting, whereas it should be a shared responsibility.
So how is that going to change?
Why would it be disastrous electorally?I really think the voice is an Albanese trap for the Conservatives. If Dutton goes against it and it fails then it will be disastrous electorally.
I do think he is aware of this. Dutton would like to be non committal and have it win, removing it from his remit and giving him something to attack.
The fact the far left and right are together on blocking it is ideal for Albanese.
It's one thing to lose the vote though trying hard, it's another to win and be a spoiler. Why would it be disastrous electorally?
It seems to that that a no vote is the base position of a classically liberal, Liberal Party and the view of that constituency
You have to win the middle ground.
