If the Japanese invaded Aus during WW2 and there was no European settlement to defend it, there would be no Aborigines left today.

Absolutely and yet we are being held responsible for colonising 250 years ago, by people who due to immigration have no direct link to most Australians today and those who did colonise installed a welfare system that includes the indigenous people.
The way we are heading, I dont think there will be a welfare system in 50 years, we will just be another South Pacific third world island, like Bali just bigger.
The only good outcome will be, I dont think media reporters get paid well in those countries, so maybe they will get just as pizzed of as normal people.
 
Another question that probably should be presented, if the white Australians are tenants, why would we pay rates on land we dont own and who sold me the house I actually dont own and WTF would the tenants join the armed forces to defend a country that isn't theirs? Wouldnt that make them mercenaries?
Best we get the the owners to man up and start and look after the tenants.
Not wanting to be antagonistic, just asking why I've had to obey the rules and hope the same rules apply to everyone else.
Interesting times.

That's why I think that "The Voice" should be talking to their own people first and urging them to stop getting drunk, stop committing crimes and stop the domestic violence and child neglect.

They can't keep blaming others, no one is forcing them to drink or beat up their partners. If they can afford to drink grog all day they can afford to feed their families.

How is domestic violence a result of neglect ?

Am I being too harsh ?

By the elders in the indigenous community making it clear that the current rates of crime, drunkeness, domestic violence and child neglect is not acceptable.

It doesn't take money to solve these issues, it takes personal responsibility, and if these rates are reduced the likelihood of the public supporting a VTP would be much increased.
 
I really think the voice is an Albanese trap for the Conservatives. If Dutton goes against it and it fails then it will be disastrous electorally.

I do think he is aware of this. Dutton would like to be non committal and have it win, removing it from his remit and giving him something to attack.

The fact the far left and right are together on blocking it is ideal for Albanese.

It seems to that that a no vote is the base position of a classically liberal, Liberal Party and the view of that constituency

It's one thing to lose the vote though trying hard, it's another to win and be a spoiler.

You have to win the middle ground.
Potential Liberal voters at the next election are a diverse bunch.

This is the problem for Dutton he has to throw out red meat for the hard right but that works against him for the middle ground plus the younger generation which is already abandoning the right.

At the moment I don't see the voice getting up clearly there is wide spread underlying resentment against 1st nations and an outright lack of understanding the complexities surrounding their issues.
 
According to an article in the SMH, the teals are going to push hard for a high yes vote.

It will be interesting to see what effect they have. How much of their electoral success was due to their policies and how much was a protest against the liberal former incumbents?
