The Police are after me

Are you sure one of your friends isnt playing a prank on you?

Quite likely, we were always trying japes like this.

When mobile phones were fairly new, we were at the pub and a mate showed me a text he had, which had a very authentic looking police insignia embedded in the text, and a message purporting to advise you had come to the attention of the drug squad.

I thought it was hilarious, and proceeded to forward-text it to various contacts.

One guy apparently got so spooked he flushed his stash down the dunny
(he never mentioned this..a third party told me later)

I would expect even the most world-weary copper, if they were going to leave a phone message, to at least have the decency to add " dont worry son, you are not in any trouble"

pls give her some stick about that Gooner!

Just spoke to the officer. She did not know my name. Could not remember calling me.

Said she would have to check her calls yesterday morning and would call me back if she needed to contact me.

So looks like a wrong number. PHEW

Sue, I say! Your posts here bear witness to the distress caused. On top of that there is the slander that has been heaped on you by implicating you in the "Hey Dad" scandal. Could be worth millions

A few years back I was in Sydney on a business trip and hired a car whilst there. Brand spankin' new Magna I think it was. With about 1000kms on the clock. About 3 or 4 days after I get home I receive a call from a Sydney CIB (or whatever acronym it is) agent asking if I had hired a car on such and such a date. Told him yeah mate, I did and he then says that I was involved in a hit and run incident that wrote off another car. I had apparently rear-ended someone totally writing the car off and driven away from the scene.

I said how the hell can that be, I returned the car in perfect working order without a friggen scratch on it, it was lucky to be a month old!!! The car hire certainly hadn't charged me for any damages. I said have you even looked at the hire car in question??? Ahhh no, not yet he says.

Local coppers came to get a statement from me and although I was helpful, I was quite pi$$ed off and made it clear that it was a serious burden on my time. Simply looking at the hire car would tell whether I had rear ended someone and caused that much damage.

After about a month of not hearing anything else I rang the Sydney copper and asked what had happened. He said they checked the car I had hired and it clearly had not done the damage I was accused of doing. I was no longer a suspect he said... LMAO... I thanked him for the follow-up call letting me know it was a mistake on their part and hung up.

Unfriggenbelievable. I guess that's Sydney for ya. lol j/k

Coincidently, the area where it supposedly happened was near Redfern. I can see it now, some speed freak writes their car off and blames the first brand new car they see
