"Telstra Chairman Donald McGauchie today announced that the company's Chief Executive Officer, Mr Sol Trujillo, would leave the company on 30 June 2009 to return home to the United States."

Who will all the media now dump on as the evil foreigner?

Would like to see a bit of heat on this dude. Just for some sport.

Rio Tinto CEO Tom Albanese

Rio Tinto CEO Tom Albanese

And what a great move rejecting $140/share from BHP.

Perhaps he should have read Packers biography and recognised his own Alan Bond!!!!

Once in a lifetime opportunities.
GONE.

Nice pic from the age,

Pretty funny the media never liked him or Burgess. Strange having a look at the share prices of other companies, RIO etc, you would think that the targets are elsewhere. Is it the Aussie's hate for telstra or as the pic show an easy target.

Interesting comparison. Trujillo vs Albanese. IMO Trujillo was focused on relatively short term (ie his bonus) but at the same time was defiant to the extreme in protecting TLS as a corporation (thus the shareholder(s)). Lots of people despise him. Albanese on the other hand is a true dill (and the rest of the RIO board). A strutting peacock. The BHPB deal was fantastic for RIO shareholders, and I say that without the benefit of hindsight. He is, sort of in reverse, the "Alan Bond" of mining (per tech/a). Having said that, thank goodness the deal never went through. Can you imagine where BHPB would be now if it had?

Disclosure: No RIO, Hold BHPB, been in/out/in/out of TLS.
