IMHO Labor if it gets another term will have to build more Kurri Kurri's, gas plants seem the only way to get peaking power available in a relatively short period of time.
They will also need a gas reservation policy, and stuff the gas exporter's contracts, the national interest comes first.
Has Labor got the guts to do it over the objections of the Greens? That really depends on the voters. If they want reliable power they will need to send the Greens a message to back off. That means not voting Green of course. Politics again.
Well let's put that into context, Labor were against Kurri Kurri when the Libs suggested it, unless it could run on gas and 30% hydrogen, now Kurri Kurri is going to actually run on diesel FFS.
And that's on Labors watch, they know now after 3 years how things are going, so obviously if another gas fired station was required, Labor would have already called for it, but that wouldn't be good optics.

I'm actually astounded that after 3 years the penny hasn't dropped with Labor, it is turning into a mess, but as usual the ideology overrides common sense with Labor.
I will still be voting for them, because I think they need to actually see something through, as with the NBN and the NDIS sometimes grandiose ideas are great in the formation years, but become hugely problematic in the implementation years.
I think it will make or break Labor, the downside is it could make or break the East Coast electricity grid, so let's give it a go and see what happens.
