Especially if the HQ Kingswood taxis, had been running on coal rather than petrol for the last 50 years, just dumb reporters writing dumb stuff, to try and excuse their ignorance.Especially if Sydney councils had ruled no new car but Lamborghini for taxis...
Smh is full woke and CC crazy, one area they are all brothers in arms with their ABC.
And fat chance having a tech. Input in these opinions
Vales Point B (2 units) in service since 1979.This is laugh, the SMH going on about the coal fired power station faltering, maybe if the Sydney taxis were still HQ Holden Kingswoods they would be faltering too.
Exactly, it is the same in W.A, Muja units 6, 7 &8 still running, built in the late 1970's, early 1980's.Vales Point B (2 units) in service since 1979.
Eraring (4 units) progressively commissioned 1982-83
Bayswater (4 units) progressively commissioned 1985-86
Mt Piper (2 units) in service since 1993 although the bulk of construction was done in the 1980's, commissioning delayed as simply no need at the time - the recession kept demand down basically.
So not exactly new.
Reading the above posts, where will our billions built solar and wind farms be in 44 years....Exactly, it is the same in W.A, Muja units 6, 7 &8 still running, built in the late 1970's, early 1980's.
Well it wasn't as though it wasn't predictable, there is a huge chasm between wanting to replace high energy density at call generation, with low energy density intermittent generation, in a short space of time.More reports that the energy transition is not going well.
Clearly, more generation assets need to be in service ASAP.
Who is going to take responsibility ? (I think we know the answer to that).

The big issue is, summer isn't here yet.Nice article on yesterday NSW near disaster https://www.afr.com/companies/energ...-nsw-s-near-miss-on-blackouts-20241128-p5ku7o
Note that we avoided that near disaster by closing industrial activity , which IMHO is enough in itself to be a disaster.
Just less unpopular..
I noted the ABC related article did not even blamed global warming..tells you how bad this is..The big issue is, summer isn't here yet.
At least you read it.I noted the ABC related article did not even blamed global warming..tells you how bad this is..
Putting purple colours on maps of 35C max forecast does not really cut it here as most know here
Indeed, what if it gets hot.....and worse dry and hot in our next drought cycle.....
Happy to be off the grid ...
Yes the oldest son is off grid, when he bought the 100acres about 4 years ago we sat down and discussed it, fortunately we are both sparkies.I noted the ABC related article did not even blamed global warming..tells you how bad this is..

IMHO Labor if it gets another term will have to build more Kurri Kurri's, gas plants seem the only way to get peaking power available in a relatively short period of time.Hopefully that doesn't happen, but still the only two new backup plant being installed by the Govt is Kurri Kurri and Snowy 2.0, thank god that is actually being built.
True, in my "what's the woke is about today" mindset, good to know your enemy..At least you read it.
Even better, vote for the dark sideIMHO Labor if it gets another term will have to build more Kurri Kurri's, gas plants seem the only way to get peaking power available in a relatively short period of time.
They will also need a gas reservation policy, and stuff the gas exporter's contracts, the national interest comes first.
Has Labor got the guts to do it over the objections of the Greens? That really depends on the voters. If they want reliable power they will need to send the Greens a message to back off. That means not voting Green of course. Politics again.
Well let's put that into context, Labor were against Kurri Kurri when the Libs suggested it, unless it could run on gas and 30% hydrogen, now Kurri Kurri is going to actually run on diesel FFS.IMHO Labor if it gets another term will have to build more Kurri Kurri's, gas plants seem the only way to get peaking power available in a relatively short period of time.

Can't do that now. Bandt would stamp his little feet and nothing would get done. And that's on Labors watch, they know now after 3 years how things are going, so obviously if another gas fired station was required, Labor would have already called for it, but that wouldn't be good optics.
Fortunately I think a HUGE reality check is coming. Can't do that now. Bandt would stamp his little feet and nothing would get done.
Effing politics is destroying this country.
I mentioned this earlier but maybe a big pain now would be salutary.a couple of serious power outages, long ones, power from 10am to 3pm then all out, a few deaths and city breakdown (train/signage, lifts) in 2024 could save us from actual irreparable collapse with more damages and deaths later on, and serious issue now might trigger a wake up in the green brainwashed..but i doubt it..Fortunately I think a HUGE reality check is coming.
I actually think it will be bigger than that, any aspiring company wanting to grow their business can't afford to have 3rd world electrical supply, so they will either not gear up or just not move forward.I mentioned this earlier but maybe a big pain now would be salutary.a couple of serious power outages, long ones, power from 10am to 3pm then all out, a few deaths and city breakdown (train/signage, lifts) in 2024 could save us from actual irreparable collapse with more damages and deaths later on, and serious issue now might trigger a wake up in the green brainwashed..but i doubt it..
Does not even work like this in the western democracies anymore
