An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole which she carried across her neck. One of the pots had a crack in it while the
other pot was perfect and always delivered a full
portion of water. At the end of the long walk from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full.

For a full two years this went on daily, with the
woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water.

Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its
accomplishments. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made to do. After 2 years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the woman one day by the stream. "I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house." The old woman smiled, "Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side? That's because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you water them."

"For two years I have been able to pick these
beautiful flowers to decorate the table. Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house." Each of us has our own unique flaw. But it's the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding. You've just got to take each person for what they are and look for the good in them.

A bit syrupy, perhaps? But not a bad philosophy nonetheless.

He, he.

Actually, I think seeing the good in bad is just a coping mechanism.

so it's imperfections are perfect right???

I had to change it again...couldn't stand those imperfections

Hi Kennas
I thought it was a great little story/analogy.
I think seeing the good in bad is optimism......if it's a :horse: .........then your just stoopid.

I think it was more about making the best of things...

he he, it's a great story Nelly.

I'm just being hard to get along with.

I have my own theories on 'seeing the good in things.'

How's the weather over there?

Hi ya

Tell me where there is and I'll give you a weather report..

I've been reading the posts on recommendations for T/A books.....have you got any.........you can only glean so much from stock forums after all.
Cheers

Nelly, I've only read some intro books on T/A. Try searching through the other threads, I think this has been covered here and guys like Tech-A, GP, Nick Radge et al, have probably commented before.

I think the old woman was a bit potty. Talking to cracked pots, tshh

I think the old woman has a hunched back ,curses everytime that cracked actor walks her pots along that path -ITS THE WEEDS,THE WEEDS they never stop growing, does she mention that ! NO! so crack the pot up !

I was just having a read of your thread started back in 06 Julia, about the cracked pot. And what a lovely story it is.

With the riggors of life these days it is good to stop and reflect now and then.

There does seem to be a lot of passion and venom in the area of politics at the moment and most of us from our persectives seem to think they politicians are useless.

Perhaps we should all focus more on the good in what we have in the hand now and try to be more constructive. Instead of going crook point out how they may improve each situation.

Anyway, just 10 cents

Kiyosaki says she should be focusing on building piplines.

Not syrupy at all J.

Quite a karmic story.

Much enjoyed, and heightened by my delay in seeing it, nice to contemplate such things on a Friday night , rather than through the rigours of a weekday.

explod and gg, thanks for your comments. I'd quite forgotten about that old thread.
It is, I think, an allegory that perhaps brings a bit of emotional sustenance when much is looking bleak.

Just noticed need for 16 or 18 BILLION DOLLARS for all disabled in Australia.

In not so distant future, we will run out of money looking after the unlucky ones.

But like in emergency department, when system is overwhelmed some are reluctantly allowed to be gone.
