Texas signs new self-defense by gun law

I was supposed to go out Friday night just gone with 2 mates of mine but was a little busy. Unfortunately received some bad news sat afternoon as one had shot himself with a 270.Friend tried to hold what was left of his upper chest together while waiting for the ambulance. He left a 2 1/2 year old daughter behind. No arguments and he had a good night, and future plans.

A case of never leave a gun in an accessible area. Still not sure if he meant to do it or if it was an accident and he was just stuffing round with it. Something that could have been avoided if it was locked in the safe and not so close at hand. Can’t blame the gun but everyone now wishing we had of noticed it.

Anyone under 30 should be looked at hard when handing a license out.

Commons sense and good principles like these will eliminate accidents happening. Its when you disobey these principles thats when things go wrong.

MoxJo im sorry to hear about your friend, but some people think guns are toys and thats not the case, we treat them with absolute care. In your last sentence thow
Anyone under 30 should be looked at hard when handing a license out.
i kinda disagree as im 24 and i have more sense than some blokes i know that are 60 with a firearm. Im all for testing, banground checks etc.. to me its all about proper firearm education and they are very tight with that now.

I was trusted with a gun at around 9. I had to earn it though and it was never a toy. My kids the same. It's not easy to have a gun these days and nor should it be. It is a lot easier to have an illegal one than a legal one.

hehe try telling that to a greeny or some other anti gun person. What people dont realise is that most crimes that are commited with guns these days in Australia is with illegal firearms.

If you outlaw firearms the only people that will have them are outlaws.

Yes exactly, some people think guns are a novelty or may develop a slack attitude towards them. If you ever notice friends doing something stupid ,give em a kick up the butt. Its better then a bullet in the head.

Nothing against being a gun owner. I was always bought up with the safety first rule when it came to guns. Easy to let friends slack off though or let things go unnoticed.

Its like anything, a good day that can go bad. But your right in what you say, when im hunting with any new companions i draw out the lines of safety and if 1 ever thinks he's rambo (even for a split second) i just pack up and go. Nowadays thow i mainly hunt with people i always go with.

I have to admit thow that target shooting as a sport is 1 of the safest sports in the world as i have never heard of anyone getting injured whilst doing it.

Strange eh, different to all the media you hear.
