I'd like to setup a structure that will prepare my future self to take advantage of legal tax minimization and asset protection. I'd like to have this setup before I start deploying capital for long-term buy-hold shares/ETFs during this downturn.
What are the future implications to consider having it under personal name vs trust or company? I'm single, low tax bracket, and would like to have a partner and kids down the line (5-10+ years) but that's really an unknown. Also starting a business so there's a few unknowns when it comes to income from that in future and how that is currently structured.
I aim to do about 80% long-term buy/holds and the remainder with occasional "short-term" trades.

Who would be the best type of person for getting advice on this? Or is it even really worth going through this trouble in the first place?

I like your thinking.
Definitely worth going through with, an accountant worth their salt should be able to get you pointed in the right direction. Note that some aren't great at more complex matter's and have to start looking into things. Wish you all the best in your ventures.
Am sure someone here could give you more info?
