Analysts said they were annoyed and wet after being doused with water and scrambling to gather their laptops, phones and notes.
The analysts congregated out on the roof of the Overseas Passenger Terminal overlooking Circular Quay.
One said: "All I know is the fire alarm went off and then I got wet."
Another said he was "annoyed" by the inconvenience.
At 1146 AEST Telstra announced that briefing is set to continue late into the afternoon after it recommences at 1330 at the Hilton Hotel in Sydney with up six senior executives yet to address the briefing.
A dinner to be hosted by Telstra at the Hilton tonight will go ahead as planned.
So does anyone know where John Howard was this morning? :
