SHEIKH'S MARTYR, PIG COMMENTS CONDEMNED

The Muslim community has moved to distance itself from comments made by a Sydney cleric calling for children to be encouraged to die as Muslim martyrs.
The head of the Global Islam Youth Centre, Sheikh Feiz Mohammed, has also referred to Jewish people as "pigs", in a video of one of his lectures.

The DVDs were reportedly found being sold by children outside a mosque in Britain.
Islamic Friendship Association spokesman Kaysar Trad says the comments do not reflect the sentiments of the wider Muslim community.

"As a community, it is quite disconcerting for us that these comments are found from time to time and they're broadcast all over the news," he said.
"They certainly give the public an erroneous impression about Islam and Muslims."

Acting Attorney-General Kevin Andrews has condemned Sheikh Mohammed's comments.
"The importation of hatred in Australia is unacceptable," he said.
"It's offensive to the Australian people, it's reprehensible.
"It's particularly outrageous that certain groups in Australia, such as the Jewish community, have been highlighted in these comments, and we condemn the comments."

Hard not to be worried, that such a material could be produced under our noses in Sydney.

Condemnation is OK, but can Muslim community and Government do more?

RUDD SAYS SHEIKH'S COMMENTS INCITE TERRORISM

The Federal Opposition is calling on the Government to take action against a Sydney cleric for encouraging Muslim children to die as martyrs.
The head of the Global Islam Youth Centre, Sheikh Feiz Mohammed, also referred to Jewish people as pigs in a video of one his lectures.
The DVDs were reportedly being sold by children outside a mosque in Britain.
The Muslim community has distanced itself from the comments.

Opposition Leader Kevin Rudd says the comments are obscene and wants the Government to act.
"The Attorney-General should now be examining what action can be taken under Australian law against Sheikh Mohammed," he said.

"As I see it, Sheikh's Mohammed's statements add up to an incitement to terrorism."
Sydney's Muslim leaders are concerned comments made by the Liverpool cleric will tarnish the wider Muslim community.

Islamic Friendship Association spokesman Kaysar Trad says he is doubtful the Sheikh's comments will radicalise young people, but he is concerned it will reflect badly on the rest of the Muslim community.
"Jihad means different things to different people but these type of comments do unfortunately create a misunderstanding," he said.
"It's best to talk to the person himself and unfortunately I understand he's not in Australia."

Quite alarming that opposition sees issues better and faster able to call it what it is.

Condemnation alone is not enough. By the Muslim "community" not taking action to remove the offender it means that they silently approve and agree with his comments.They must act.

I'm not up to scratch on Sheikh Feiz Mohammed, but isn't he the one who commented on rape victims, and referred to women as "pieces of meat"? (almost anyway, "Meat" was a metaphor)

Seems to be an intresting choice to have a man of his ideal to represent a faith/religion/culture...

Perhaps Johnnie should get on it then? On ya Johnnie!

Hi all,

I keep hearing about how eveyrone wants the muslin "community" to take action & change those boofheads brainless clerics but I'm not really sure what do you want the community to do.

1. Muslim community doesn't have power to remove to assign anyone, govt funding goes to certain organisations that are non-for profit & they end up making committees that choose these boofheads & they force them as leaders for some reason.

2. Who has the time or the energy to go around the clock checking the relegious information given by those boofheads to other people, Muslim community is made of normal people who go to work & come home after work as well, Islam for them is a religion not a property that they have to protect from crazy guys & lunatics who are taking advantage of media craziness about islam for their own self fame. Also, the muslim community doesn't have a regulatory body that could control what these guys are saying because govt regulations allow free speech. In most of muslim countries, govts assign a regulatory body to prevent these boofheads from destroying the image of a peacful religion. These guys exist everywhere but they only get a space to speak out in western countries where they can say crap with no one correcting or stopping them.

3. These boofheads are not representing anyone from the community & they're NOT elected leaders by anyone from the community, so blame should be on those who put in power or gave them the 5 minutes of fame on 6 o'clock news that they've never dreamt of having.

4. the word condemn is easy & basic & pretty much useless, muslim community can keep condemening those boofheads over & over again but they'll keep coming up because media loves them & everyone loves to talk about how muslims are the animals that will eat civilised human beings alive , so its pointless.

I think 1 thing needs to be implemented, get a law to prevent these boofheads & lunatics from distributing any violenent ideas.

With or without condemnation, there will be another guy coming in future saying some crazy comments & media will love him as well.....you know why, because that's the only way for him to get on TV & for all of us to talk about HIM, not in his wildest dreams he would imagine to have the same fame if he's a moderate guy who's peace loving & with basic ideas.

Religion is the way we all pray to god, we have many ways & many religions but its still the same god ...... if many forgot.

Put a Green frog into cold water, slowly turn the heat up, and you'l see he will be happy.

Put another green from in a pot of HOT water and see him jump, possibly at you.... you get the idea... (stunt imaginary frogs were used to illustrate this)

So too with the Western World, but not so with the Extremists World.

Some places if the Extremist mob doesn't kill you the same day, a STRAY bullet or bomb will... IMO

I've heard that metaphore before and understand it's meaning. But I have no idea or understanding of how it applies to the sheiks comments or to religion, any form of religion or extremism.

What were you trying to imply tekman?

Some group, I guess Islamic, made him the head of the Global Islamic Youth Centre, It is up to them, whoever they are, to remove him. If they don't then they are saying they approve of his actions.

I totally agree, those who put him in that position should take him off, NOT muslim community because muslim community doesn't even know of the existence of such a person or if another 1000 of him are there or not.

If every muslim in Australia marched on the streets to fire this guy from his job, nothing will happen, only those who hired him can fire him & since those who hired him are not elected leaders but some people who applied for govt funding for whatever reason they have, then muslim community has nothing to do with decision makers, they're not community leaders & they're not representing anyone because a leader needs to be elected & there was never an election or even voting.

More or less, in reality, govt funding is what keeps those guys alive & well fed, if govt has a standard for those guys applying for funding & if govt can monitor or regulate them when they allocate their funding & even before they give them licensing to operate then they won't be here today.

Again the muslim community does not elect leaders in Australia, govt give funding to "anyone" that puts a good application for a community program without checking their merits or ability & without ongoing monitoring to their ability or disablity in educating juniors in that case.

Therefore, since muslim community are just audience watching all these guys like you, then there's nothing they can do.

The govt never asked any muslim about giving funding to any of these funny organisation or community centres & never assigned anyone to monitor the standards teached to youth inside these centres, so how can we expect any good results!

Govt is not willing to put the effort in improving the muslim community standards. Any mechanic, carpenter, trades person, etc... need a license & they get to lose it if they break a set of rules. Where are the rules for reliegon teachers in Australia?? None?? then how can we expect quality teaching??!!
